Short scroll below for Kansas "local" news links and editorials, but here's the plan!
HERE'S HOW IT'S DONE!
WE CAN DO IT, TOO!
WITH YOUR HELP.
Sam Husseini as part of his new Sunday features has launched an ingenious independent enterprise called "Sunday Morning Stakeout".
He and his independent news crew do "stakeouts" outside the big media centers that have the infamous and corporate managed "talking heads" shows.
When the big shots come out they usually stop and answer questions to reporters standing around waiting for their exit from the big network shows.
FCF is almost ready to start similar news runs across Kansas at the "newsmakers" and war managers across the state. If you would like to donate let us know by leaving an email at the address: bluebarnnewscentral@hughes.net
In this episode Husseini asks a "star" question to DNI John Negroponte about Israel's use of nuclear weapons. Note a previous report by Jonathan Cook posted on the scroll below about the BBC propaganda take on Israel and Iran war.
FCF needs a digital cam corder and a few bucks in gas money to get to the places we want to do our stake outs in Kansas, consider helping out for independent news.
And don't forget to bookmark Sam's site for future "under the radar" independent news coverage at:
http://www.husseini.org
Here's Sam's transcript of the event:
John Negroponte, Director of National Intelligence questioned outside Fox studios in Washington, Sunday, September 17, by Sam Husseini.
Husseini: Ambassador, why did your office approve the Fleitz Report on Iran's nuclear program, even though according to the IAEA, the report contained 'erroneous, misleading, and unsubstantiated information' about Iran's nuclear program?
Negroponte: We did not -- of course, as you know, that report was written by a staff member of the House Intelligence Committee, we did not originate it, and we weren't commenting so much on the content, as we were -- we dealt with it from a declassification point of view, what could be published in an unclassified format, so I wouldn't associate us one way or another, we didn't comment one way or another on the conclusions that were drawn by that report.
Husseini: Ambassador, do you know that Israel has nuclear weapons?
Negroponte: I don't want to get into a discussion about Israel's nuclear powers.
Husseini: You can't comment on whether Israel has nuclear powers?

Cheney- Ryun BUSHEVIK LOVE FEST $1000 PIX WITH MAD DICK
A HEAD NODDING, GRINNING IDIOT
WATCHES G.O.P. TITANIC
SLIP BENEATH THE WAR WAVES.
Wallowing in the insane "glory" of being one of the most hated regimes worldwide in the history of the United States; leave it to the Kansas Busheviks to go one more step toward the cliff.
The "God Hates Fags" posse of the all time craziest of Christian death cults gathered in squealing delight at Topeka's Maner Conference Center to hear Vice President Mad Dick Cheney utter absolutely nothing new about anything.
Can one imagine paying $1000 to have a picture of yourself with a war criminal?
One God, One Religion, One Party, One Great Big Bunch of whining Hypocrites!
The local Busheviks are quoted below:
“It just makes us feel that much more special to know he would do that for someone we love so much,” says Pat Timmons of Lawrence, a personal friend of Ryun.“We have a great president living in the white house, and he deserves to have a congress that works for him, not against him,” says Cheney.
[ ... ]
“It's good to be able to hear the Vice President, and we think Jim Ryun is the greatest,” says Larry Meadows, Tonganoxie.
[ ... ]
“I thought it was a once in a life time opportunity to hear someone so powerful and supportive of Jim Ryun,” says Hanna Ribelin.

KANSANS WILL NEVER KNOW.
Channel 13, WIBW-TV, Topeka, Ks. is no longer the aggressive news station that it once was more than 30 years ago. The reporters hands are tied in tight budgets and the herd mentality of advertisement driven editorial 'guidelines.'
Owned by one of the most right wing Republican slanted corporations in the United States, far from Topeka, Ks. the staff of reporters must labor under some pretty tough rules. Like don't piss off anybody, especially Republicans buying campaign ads!
A "card of thanks" goes out to Lisa Boschert who tried to report on just how much money Congressman Ryun spent to get Vice President Mad Dick Cheney to Topeka last week, but she failed by news time last week.
It is hard to come up with any investigative reporting working under the "It's So Good" canned format of Happy Face Mindless Boosterism called television journalism in Kansas.
Here is an excerpt with something of a dollar figure mentioned:
"Ryun's campaign paid a certain amount of money in the tens of thousands of dollars to the RNC to pay for Cheney's visit. She says after the visit the White House gave a bill to the Republican National Committee and whatever money is left over goes back to Ryun.
Ryun spent somewhere in tens of thousands of dollars to bring the vice president here, but made more than $200,000 in fundraising."
FCF is sure that after two more years of the Bush Regime even the figures of how much collected will be classified under Department of Homeland Security news guidelines.

As Afghanistan enters its fifth year under foreign occupation, we take a look at the state of the US-led reconstruction of the country. We speak with Afghan-American journalist Fariba Nawa, author of a new report from Corpwatch, "Afghanistan Inc." [includes rush transcript]
In Afghanistan, NATO has now taken command of most foreign troops across the country. The handover of power comes just days before the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan of 2001. The U.S. continues to have more troops than any other country in Afghanistan.
The U.S. will also retain full control of Bagram Air Force base where the Bush administration is holding hundreds of prisoners.

Israel's Plan for a Military Strike on Iran
The BBC and Israeli Propaganda
By JONATHAN COOK
Counterpunch
October 12, 2006
The Middle East, and possibly the world, stands on the brink of a terrible conflagration as Israel and the United States prepare to deal with Iran's alleged ambition to acquire nuclear weapons. Israel, it becomes clearer by the day, wants to use its air force to deliver a knock-out blow against Tehran. It is not known whether it will use conventional weapons or a nuclear warhead in such a strike.
At this potentially cataclysmic moment in global politics, it is good to see that one of the world's leading broadcasters, the BBC, decided this week that it should air a documentary entitled "Will Israel bomb Iran?". It is the question on everyone's lips and doubtless, with the imprimatur of the BBC, the programme will sell around the world.
The good news ends there, however. Because the programme addresses none of the important issues raised by Israel's increasingly belligerent posture towards Tehran.

Terry Jones: George Bush's splendid achievement
By Terry Jones
10/10/06
"The Guardian"
Dear President Bush,
I write to you in my capacity as secretary of the World League of Despots.
It is with great pleasure that I am finally able to extend an official invitation to you to join our ranks. For many years, we have watched your efforts to fulfil the requirements necessary to join our number. From the start, we were greatly impressed by your disdain for democratic principles - the way you wrested power from the democratically elected candidate in the 2000 election, and again in 2005 when you managed to swing what was clearly going to be a victory for your opponent.
Contempt for human life has always been a priority requirement for membership of the league, and I and my fellow adjudicators were well aware of your record as governor of Texas when you quadrupled the number of state executions. But your record since seizing power has surpassed even our expectations. The thousands of innocent people in Iraq, who have died so that you could fulfil your declared political objective of establishing "an American force presence in the Middle East", attest to your eligibility to join our ranks.
I cannot, however, disguise the fact that we adjudicators were extremely anxious when you announced your intention to remove from office one of our most stalwart members, Mr Saddam Hussein. However, we need not have worried. According to a recent UN report, you have ensured that there are now even more human rights abuses in Iraq than there were under Saddam. No less than 10% of those in custody are being physically or psychologically abused. Well done!
Of course, your unstinting efforts to make torture an internationally accepted aspect of human life have surpassed everything we could have ever hoped for. I don't think there is a single member of the league who could have imagined, six short years ago, that our activities in tormenting our fellow creatures would once again be recognised as acceptable, civilised behaviour, as it once was in the middle ages.
Despite these achievements, we had, until now, felt unable to extend our invitation to you because you had been unable to fulfil one of our basic requirements: the ability to carry out arbitrary arrests, imprisonment without trial, secret torture and executions at will.
We approved of your attempts to establish the principles of arbitrary arrest under the Homeland Security Act of 2002, but unfortunately it was still restricted to terror suspects. We appreciate that you were hampered by the US constitution, but the restrictions this imposed on your arbitrary powers kept you below the threshold requirements for qualification as a despot.
Now, however, all that has changed. At the end of last month you persuaded the Senate to pass a bill regarding the treatment of detainees. Illegally obtained evidence can now be used against suspects, even if it has been gathered abroad under torture. Anyone you care to accuse can be thrown into prison without the right to a trial or the right to represent themselves.
Officially the legislation is restricted to "enemy combatants", but you have skilfully adapted this definition to include anyone who has "purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the US". This presumably means that anyone who publicly criticises your conduct can be defined as supporting hostilities to the US. You are now free to arrest and imprison anyone you don't like. You've got it in the bag!
It is with great pleasure that we in the World League of Despots note that you have now appropriated to yourself all the powers of arbitrary arrest and torture that Saddam once enjoyed. You are now one of us. Congratulations!

A brave young independent journalist writes from Nazareth
REQUIRES INDEPENDENT JOURNALISTS
Mr. Cook writes about and from his web site that he is, "a British journalist based in Nazareth, Israel. This site includes my articles on the Middle East published in international newspapers, English-language Arab publications and specialist magazines since 2001.
[ ... ]
Why my reporting is different
I have chosen to position myself in the region in two ways - one professional, the other geographical - that distinguish me from colleagues. This approach gives me greater freedom to reflect on the true nature of the conflict and provides me with fresh insight into its root causes.
Professionally, I am one of the few journalists regularly writing about the region who work as an independent freelancer. I choose the issues I wish to cover, so I am not constrained by the ‘treadmill’ of the mainstream media, which require an endless flow of instant copy and analysis. I am also not tied to the mainstream agenda, which gives disproportionate coverage to the concerns of the powerful, in this case the Israeli and American positions - in the US media to a degree that makes much of their Israel/Palestine reporting implausible. I also rarely accept commissions, restricting myself to topics that I consider to be the most revealing about the conflict.
Geographically, I am the first foreign correspondent to be based in the Israeli Arab city of Nazareth, in the Galilee. Most reporters covering the conflict live in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, with a handful of specialists based in the West Bank city of Ramallah. The range of stories readily available to reporters in these locations reinforces the assumption among editors back home that the conflict can only be understood in terms of the events that followed the West Bank and Gaza’s occupation in 1967. This has encouraged the media to give far too much weight to Israeli concerns about ‘security’ - a catch-all that offers Israel special dispensation to ignore its duties to the Palestinians under international law.
Many topics central to the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians, including the plight of the refugees and the continuing dispossession of Palestinians living as Israeli citizens, do not register on most reporters’ radars.
From Nazareth, the capital of the Palestinian minority in Israel, things look very different. There are striking, and disturbing, similarities between the experiences of Palestinians inside Israel and those inside the West Bank and Gaza. All have faced Zionism's appetite for territory and domination, as well as repeated attempts at ethnic cleansing. These unifying themes suggest that the conflict is less about the specific circumstances thrown up by the 1967 war and more about the central tenets of Zionism as expressed in the war of 1948 that founded Israel and the war of 1967 that breathed new life into its colonial agenda."
About his first book, just published in America:
"My first book, entitled 'Blood and Religion: The Unmasking of the Jewish and Democratic State', is published by Pluto Press in Britain in April and in the United States in July 2006. It concerns Israel's treatment of its Palestinian citizens during the second intifada, and the real reasons for the policies of territorial separation evident in the Gaza disengagement and the building of the West Bank wall. It argues that, threatened by predictions that the combined Palestinian population inside Israel and the Occupied Territories will soon outnumber the region's Jews, Israel decided to create an expanded fortress state, where only Jewish blood and Jewish religion count."

One of the nation's largest blogs gets it right about Kansas GOP politicians, again.
It was a woman I didn't recognize, but I was instantly turned off by her 'Run with Ryun' polo shirt. Casey seemed to know her, though, and let her know we were with TBC and that we were doing a video project. He asked her what she prayed for, and she said this:
"I pray, every day, that my husband, Jim Ryun, wins re-election for the United States House of Representatives."
I told her she couldn't say that on a church thing. She seemed generally surprised by this. And then she asked me if I wanted to volunteer for her husband's campaign.
I was a little taken aback at this, I'll admit, so my declining her offer may have been a little more rude and abrupt than usual, because she asked me, "Why not? You're...you're not a...a Democrat, are you?"
And of course, I told the truth. "Yes, I am," I said.
"And you're saved?" Apparently in Mrs. Ryun's world, you can't be a Democrat and a Christian at the same time.
"Absolutely," I said. "I'm also a member of the ACLU."
She seemed genuinely taken aback at this. She asked specifically what I disagreed with her husband on.
"Well, the torture bill he voted for a couple weeks ago." She was geniunely clueless as to what I was talking about. "The McCain compromise?" I offered. She then said something derogatory about John McCain, but we were no closer to getting her to understand what the bill was or what it did. "It's a bill that gives the president to declare anyone he likes--regardless of whether he's a US citizen--an enemy combatant and thrown in jail without due process."
Her comeback to this was "Well, are you saying that just because you're a citizen means you're not an enemy of this country?"
"Of course not," I said, "But you're innocent until proven guilty."

The March to War: Naval build-up in the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Naming the ships and the countries involved in the coming war with Iran?
Here is one of the few sites to offer a "carefully documented review of the ongoing naval build-up and deployment of coalition forces in the Middle East." The site, Global Research, transmits out of Canada and seems to have some pretty astute academic writers on board.
This extensive article names the three main U. S. naval task forces currently underway to the Persian Gulf, as well as the various duties and ships within each group. Other countries involved are also detailed. The article by Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya is very lengthy and I recommend reading it if for only to acquaint one with who is actually going to be launching the missiles, mining the Iranian harbors and blockading the ports.
An excerpt follows below:
Time Magazine and the “Prepare to Deploy Order” of the Eisenhower Strike Group
The latest U.S. reports provide details of preparations to go to war with Iran and Syria. Time magazine confirms that orders have been given for deployment of a submarine, a battleship, two minesweepers, and two mine-hunters in the Persian Gulf by October 2006. There are very few places in the world where minesweepers would be needed or used besides the Persian Gulf. There also very few places where anti-submarine drills are required , besides the Persian Gulf.
Anti-submarine drills are what Expeditionary Strike Group 5 (EST 5) is performing in the Pacific before it heads to the Persian Gulf, together with Canada's H.M.C.S. Ottawa and units of the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Time Magazine article intimates that the operation could result in heavy American casualties.
“The first message was routine enough: a ‘Prepare to Deploy Order’ sent through naval communications channels to a submarine, an Aegis-class cruiser, two minesweepers and two mine-hunters. The orders didn't actually command the ships out of port; they just said be ready to move by October 1 [2006]. A deployment of minesweepers to the east coast of Iran would seem to suggest that a much discussed, but until now largely theoretical, prospect has become real: that the U.S. may be preparing for war with Iran.”12
Award-winning investigative reporter and journalist Dave Lindorff has written;
[Retired] Colonel Gardiner, who has taught military strategy at the National War College [of the United States], says that the [U.S. Navy] carrier deployment and a scheduled Persian Gulf arrival date of October 21 [2006] is “very important evidence” of war planning. He says, “I know that some naval forces have already received 'prepare to deploy orders’ [PTDOs], which have set the date for being ready to go as October 1 [2006]. Given that it would take about from October 2 to October 21 to get those forces to the [Persian] Gulf region, that looks about like the date” of any possible military action against Iran. (A PTDO means that all crews should be at their stations, and ships and planes should be ready to go, by a certain date—in this case, reportedly, October 1.) Gardiner notes, “You cannot issue a PTDO and then stay ready for very long. It's a very significant order, and it’s not done as a training exercise.” This point was also made in the Time article.
(…)
"I think the plan’s been picked: bomb the nuclear sites in Iran," says [Colonel] Gardiner. "It's a terrible idea, it's against U.S. law and it's against international law, but I think they've decided to do it." Gardiner says that while the United States has the capability to hit those sites with its cruise missiles, "the Iranians have many more options than we [the United States] do.
(…)
Of course, Gardiner agrees, recent ship movements and other signs of military preparedness could be simply a bluff designed to show toughness in the bargaining with Iran over its nuclear program. But with the Iranian coast reportedly armed to the teeth with Chinese Silkworm anti-ship missiles, and possibly even more sophisticated Russian anti-ship weapons, against which the [U.S.] Navy has little reliable defenses, it seems unlikely the Navy would risk high-value assets like aircraft carriers or cruisers with such a tactic. Nor has bluffing been a Bush [Administration] MO [tactic] to date.13
The Pentagon responded to the Time magazine report by stating that the Chief of Naval Operations had merely asked the U.S. Navy to “put ‘fresh eyes’ on old U.S. plans to blockade two Iranian oil ports on the [Persian] Gulf.”14 This response in itself is questionable to analysts. Why would the United States want to stop the flow of oil from Iran, a major petroleum exporting nation, which would harm U.S. allies and the world economy?

What the Amish are Teaching America
The evening of the shooting, Amish neighbors from the Nickel Mines community gathered to process their grief with each other and mental health counselors. As of that evening, three little girls were dead. Eight were hospitalized in critical condition. (One more girl has died since.)
According to reports by counselors who attended the grief session, the Amish family members grappled with a number of questions: Do we send our kids to school tomorrow? What if they want to sleep in our beds tonight, is that okay? But one question they asked might surprise us outsiders.
What, they wondered, can we do to help the family of the shooter? Plans were already underway for a horse-and-buggy caravan to visit Charles Carl Roberts’ family with offers of food and condolences. The Amish, it seems, don’t automatically translate their grieving into revenge. Rather, they believe in redemption.

Demolition Derby - NE Kansas mass political suicide. Prepare for struggle!
Last entry for the weekend.
The yahoos are excited about racing their homemade hot rods at Thunder Road this weekend near Holton, Ks. Temperatures are projected at or near 90 degrees (f) this weekend and bombing Iran is okay by them. "Get it over with, bomb the ragheads."
My Blue Barn mates say there is little to do to friendly persuade the Bush Regime's supporters out here.
"They won't listen, the Busheviks think bombing Iran is easier than stopping their wasteful lives at Wal-mart," said Buzz last night.
My brother in Olathe, Ks. says that the Johnson County folks don't care if gas gets up to $5/gallon. "Wrap that gas pump in red, white and blue and forget yer poor neighbors. I'm buying a $160,000.00 house to make my wife happy. It won't feed me and the kids, but it's the thing to do," he says.
So I throw this vid up, hoping to remind them that the Earth is pissed and ready to explode on our asses. Help them, I say to myself, make them understand that the stakes are too high this time around. It ain't the sixties, but we sure as hell need some of that street action now. Vietnam had nuthin' to do with oil. Nixon was a creampuff compared to the regime on top of us now. The Bush regime hijacked our grief over 9/11 and flew it straight into the oil empire. It's their empire, but it's not our fight.
The religious wackos get on C-Span and sqawk about addressing all our calls about Bush as 'President Bush' in honor of the office. The hogs want us to eat the corn out of our own shit. Oil is shit. We can do better than that, make our own way, learn from the old folks how to live, grow food and share.
But a twisted fanatic, storms into an Amish school house; lines up the little girls - lets the others out and blows their young pacifist brains out. America. No wonder the Amish get squemish about having an American flag in their school rooms. The pacifist doctrine of "friendly persuasion" is wrung through the blood soaked wringers of an obsolete washing machine.
The country should be ashamed of this, but the headlines are filled with a Florida lawmaker's instant messages soliciting sex. School shootings? That's old news. I gotta go to my homemade NASCAR event and twist my head between pulls on the beer cans watching Joey burn up his backyard junk machine.
Yeah, who cares about those little girls, or why he killed them.
We got racing to do this weekend and low gas prices.
Ask Sen. Tom DeLay if the "minister's daughter is in love with the snake?"
Have a good weekend, cast away illusions, prepare for struggle.
It's going to take a pretty big peoples' movement to "Drive out the Bush Regime" and not too many in NE Kansas are going to help out. I and my Blue Barn mates, my printing press and my friends will do everything we can to help from now on.
We agree: "The World Can't Waite - Drive out the Bush Regime."
Strange Days ... on the edge almost forty years ago, and we're back to the future.
We are again seeing "Strange Days."
Global warming, climate change, peak oil, endless wars for oil ... the list goes on and on.
The World Can't Wait - Drive out the Bush Regime!
Many thanks to World Can't Wait - Kansas City for the link to this hot cowboy!
The Real Foley Scandal is Much Bigger than Foley
We're so much better for it, too.
This guy writes good stuff.
Below a very short Lindorff excerpt that puts a brake on the Foley "scandal" and engages the brain on the real crimes being committed by the Bush regime.
How are we to compare seeking to screw an underage youth with totally screwing the Constitution?
How are we to compare secret email solicitations with a secret plot to attack a nation of 62 million that poses no immediate threat to the U.S.?
How are we to compare the Republican Party's cover-up of a member's efforts to corrupt young pages with the same party's conspiracy to cover up the Bush administration's ineptness and possible foreknowledge of the 9-11 attacks, and of the campaign of lies and misinformation it used to drum up hysteria for an illegal and totally unwarranted invasion of Iraq?

Democrats and Iran: Look Who Supports Bush's Next War - by Joshua Frank
Cited by the "World Can't Wait - Drive out the Bush Regime" web site some of the most interesting positions Democrats have made in support of bombing Iran. The remarkable note is this was from early 2005; yeah January, 2005 - meaning that little if any has changed among the Democrats.

Joseph Stalin is Alive and Well and Living on Pennsylvania Avenue
By Danny Schechter, MediaChannel
New York, New York, September 21, 2006.
They have borrowed the techniques of their old enemies as Cheryl Seal wrote back in 2001:
“Joseph Stalin was successful in seizing and retaining power primarily because he was able to stack the Politburo with politicians as extreme as himself and to dictate their actions and their votes on every issue. Party dissenters were harassed mercilessly by the Politburo members who remained blindly loyal to Stalin. With a block of supporters who did not think for themselves, Stalin was able to completely reverse Russia's policy on a number of key issues, right across the board. For example, in 1936, he completely reversed the liberal communist doctrines pertaining to family, divorce, and abortion. He made divorce difficult, made abortion illegal, and stressed "family values" [do we see a 'dictator pattern' here?].

Moyers starts new series on PBS this week!
Moyers explosive investigative reports begin tomorrow night on PBS. The first installment covers the widespread corruption of lobbyists "addicting" politicians to campaign donations. What Moyers calls blatant “bribery” and the lack of M$M coverage and their conflicting interests when over “200 million dollars a month” is used to influence politicians.
Watch the first interview with Moyers on Truthout’s multimedia web page here.
There are three programs in the series “Moyer’s America” starting tomorrow night.

The Human Catastrophe of Gaza Is a Time Bomb
"Nuke Iran, take all the oil."
Vote Republican, or else.
A gigantic prison is Gaza; bombed, starved into a jihadist Stone Age, with Israel as it's Zion-mad warden about to explode into slaughter and genocide that only a trapped people, guarded at 400 checkpoints by Zionist draft age goons can produce. Walled off to reservations, cut-off from their traditional herding trails, their orchards and homes bulldozed to make room for Zionists. First come the hilltop trailer parks wrapped in barbed wire, sniper towers and landmines, then come the model suburbias, gated communities dumping their sewage down the hill to the Palestinians below.
A post-WWII version of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising may already be in the works in the apartheid zones around Israel. Israel's Zionist leaders continue to wave their nuclear bombs, cajoling the Bush Juggernaut to air bomb Iran as an October surprise. Or they will do it for Bush and Abramoff's cronies.
America's oil vampires lead the charge in Kansas!
The God of the Old Testament is upon us!
Will Granma and Granpa vote the same old, same old G. O. P. ticket this November? You bet.
Paranoid amnesiacs their brains bombed into red, white and blue forgetful spaces declared constitutional by the fundamentalists' Jesus Camp regime. Unable to find their SUV's and huge 4X4 trucks in the mall parking lots; they'll hit the "R" buttons by each candidate's name and whisper "amen" in the open poll booths.
Yes, and their fangs will grow when they push those touch screen computers this November in Kansas.
No need to hack victory in Kansas, the vampires wear crosses around here, oil runs in their veins - and blood drips from their televisions and hate radio stations. The hot Martian wind storms that howled across the Kansas plains for over two weeks last Spring were not part of climate change. Rush Limbaugh told them so.
The crazy cornfed Christians in Kansas don't care. Gas prices down, Bush is "up" winning a bi-partisan endorsement for secretive trials, torture and the abolition of habeus corpus.
Now the pious, obedient Repugnuts and cowardly Democraps can sit tall in their chicken hawk saddles leading the charge with the words of Col. George Armstrong Custer at the Little Big Horn, "Come on, boys - we got them on the run."
Pay no heed to the horrors incarnate over that cup of coffee at the village diner. All is well, the suffering "over there" has nothing to do with "us." Dare not speak of it, or you will be called "traitor." Not even one word of dissent is allowed.
Mark the dissidents with "liberal commie" for future DHS round-ups during a duct taped Red Alert.
The Palestinians with their starving children will definitely oblige all of Kansas with silence. Israel, oil and that "good old time" religion will lead the crazies in Kansas over the cliff and they'll blame the ones "over there" and make more racist crusades to conquer the world for the American empire.

The "Nice Little Conservative Hit Job" blowback.
Elite blowback settles in among the crazy cornfed Christians about Clinton outfoxing Rupert's Fox News Sunday.
John Nichols writes a succinct essay for The Nation. Here he quotes what Clinton said to the show's host Chris Wallace with:
"'You set this meeting up because you were going to get a lot of criticism from your viewers because (Fox owner) Rupert Murdoch is going to get a lot of criticism from your viewers for supporting my work on Climate Change. And you came here under false pretenses and said that you'd spend half the time talking about (climate change.) You said you'd spend half the time talking about what we did out there to raise $7 billion plus over three days from 215 different commitments. And you don't care.'
Truer words have rarely been spoken on a nationally-televised 'news' program. "
And Clinton is correct about the dominant opinion about global climate change among Fox news junkies. Few care how much people are doing, or contributing to stop it. Also, former Vice President Al Gore was not too far off the mark tonight on the BBC when he said, "I know that the red carpet is just a rug."
Many Repugnuts in "Red State" Kansas consider dwindling energy security networks and global climate change a hoax perpetrated by a bunch of commie liberals.
This pre-enlightenment mentality hog wallows in Know Nothingism, and the vast M$M empires flood the airwaves producing the animal feed corn, propaganda necessary to dumb down the 'great beast' of ' consumers.'
The naive are to be yet again, reduced to be mere consumers, overfed, arrogant and considered as a herd to be kept docile. Similar to the very real lack of any intellectual debate among the policy makers and leaders of the "military industrial complex" concerning geopolitical wars elsewhere.
Clinton, who knows what it's like to be hated from all sides, was ready to pounce despite his own elitest tendencies that gravitate toward what those in the south call "neoliberalism."
Nichols writes on to say:
"When a beaten Wallace tried to cover for himself – '… all I can say is, I'm asking you in good faith because it's on people's minds, sir. And I wasn't…' – Clinton nailed him: 'There's a reason it's on people's minds. That's the point I'm trying to make. There's a reason it's on people's minds because they've done a serious disinformation campaign to create that impression.'"
"Love Bill Clinton or hate him, but understand that his appearance on Fox New Sunday was one of those rare moments in recent American history when a target of our drive-by media shot back. "

The interview that rocked my Sunday.
As current President Bush quips, "Why do they hate us?"
I counter, "Why do so many Republicans hate this man?"
Here is the full-unedited interview with former President Bill Clinton’s “first appearance” on Fox News Sunday.
The interview with Chris Wallace has caused a bit of an internet firestorm. I received several phones calls from regular Flyer readers on this Sunday afternoon to find a way to throw this up on the site. I received several emails this evening from different folks asking me if I saw the episode. I even had a voice mail message about this “media clash”.
Since Fox is viewed by more Flyer readers than I would like to count out here in Kansas. I stayed up tonight to find the episode for you other readers who might have missed it.
I know some who are quite close to me who have Fox television or Limbaugh radio on 24/7 droning on and on in the background with the ceaseless crawler running terror fear bulletins along the bottom of the screen. One can’t even have a conversation and a cup of coffee with the folks because they are so distracted waiting for the next moment when a “terror alert” is posted from some remote area of the world. Sometime it gets pretty crazy in Middle America. I and my family lived through some of those times which will be indirectly the subject of some stories I am preparing to publish in the near future.
While watching this short series of videos I think it would be relevant to pass along some short quotes from Richard Clarke’s book Against All Enemies: Inside America’s War on Terror.
Try to remember what you were doing in 1993 through 1996 while reading this short passage. I’ll tell you what I was doing at the end of these quotes and the sequel video short (part two) which is posted below.
A pertinent passage from this book which Clinton and Wallace heatedly discuss begins here:
By keeping a close eye on Rahman, within months the FBI uncovered another cell planning bombings in New York. This time it would be the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the United Nations headquarters, and other landmarks. By the end of June 1993, the plotters and Rahman were in the federal government’s Manhattan Metropolitan Detention Center. It seemed like the counterterrorism machinery was working well.
It wasn’t. The FBI and CIA should have been able to answer my question, “Who are these guys?” but they still could not.
The real answer was a group that the FBI and CIA had not yet heard of: al Qaeda. The first member of al Qaeda arrested in the United States – as we later discovered – was El Sayyid Nosair, who assassinated Rabbi Meir Kahane, the fiery leader of the radical Jewish Defense League, in New York in 1992. The FBI’s investigation into the World Trade Center suspects connected them to Nosair. Nosair’s legal bills were ultimately paid by bin Laden. His apartment had materials connecting him to something called the Afghan Services Bureau; yet many of the Arabic – language materials would go untranslated by the FBI for years after his arrest. The four initially arrested for the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 were quickly linked to the Al Kifah Center in Brooklyn. That center was funded by and openly affiliated with the Afghan Services Bureau (Mahktab al Kiddimah), run by bin Laden. The blind sheik had spent time in Afghanistan with bin Laden. The blind sheik was a member of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which was already tied to bin Laden. Ahmed Ajaj had been detained at JFK Airport for carrying bomb – related materials, including a manual on the cover of which was the phrase “al Qaeda.” Ramzi Yousef had even called bin Laden from New York.
Usama bin Laden had formed al Qaeda three years earlier. Not only had no one in the CIA or FBI ever heard of it, apparently they had never heard of bin Laden either. His name never came up in our meetings in 1993 as a suspect in the World Trade Center attack. We did hear about someone who appeared to be Ramzi Yousef’s uncle. He went by various names, and he appeared to be behind Yousef’s mysterious money. One name he used was Kalid Sheik Muhammad. It was not clear exactly what his role was, but he was connected, and therefore the FBI wanted him, wherever he was.
Pg. 78 – 79
Please continued to next post below.
The interview that rocked my Sunday. Part Two
The questions are being answered.
Domestic Terrorists from within the militias were loose everywhere.
Far right terror of Americans by Americans was draining resources.
Again, a pertinent passage dealing directly with a later time – frame. Beginning here with Clarke writing of the internal security problems surrounding the Olympics in Atlanta held after the Oklahoma City federal building bombing. The bombs and the bombers came from Kansas, here the security approaches another controversial level at:
The Washington representative of the Secret Service asked abut access control on the Olympic venues, especially the Olympic Stadium where the President would be sitting. “Who is going to mag and search everyone as they come into the stadium?’ After he explained that the verb “to mag” meant to search for metal such as guns using handheld or stationary walk-through magnetometers, the Atlanta Olympic Committee representative revealed its plan to have citizen volunteers at each gate to the stadium. They would not be using mags.
Mindful of Ramzi Yousef’s plot to blow up 747s and the images of Pan Am 103, I asked about aircraft. “What if somebody blows up a 747 over the Olympic Stadium, or even flies one into the stadium?”
The Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta FBI Office was steaming under the cross-examination from the Washington know-it-alls. “Sounds like Tom Clancy to me,” he sneered. I glared at him. “But if it happens well, that’s an FAA problem,” he answered.
“Okay, Admiral Flynn?” I turned to Cathal Flynn, the retired Navy SEAL who ran FAA security. Born in Ireland and having spent twenty-five years in the U. S. Navy with the first name Cathal, Flynn liked to be called “Irish.”
“Well, Dick, we could ban aircraft from over the Stadium during the events by posting a Notice to Airmen,” Irish responded.
“But what if a terrorist hijacks an aircraft and violates that ban?” I asked.
“Then we would call the Air Force if we saw the aircraft violate the ban on radar. But by then it would be too late,” Flynn intoned in his deep baritone. “But, of course, we would not even see them on radar if they shut down the transponder on the aircraft. You see, our radars are not air defense radars. Our air traffic control radars rely on the aircraft sending out a radio signal to us to tell us its altitude.”
The Defense Department representative then explained to us about the posse comitatus law and how it prohibited the military from using force in the U. S. Jim Reynolds from the Justice Department helpfully pointed out that posse comitatus could be waived and had been waived to allow Army Special Forces to assist in suppressing a prison riot “right here in Atlanta” a few years earlier. “Yeah, but there is also an international law, to which we are a party, that bans shooting down a civilian aircraft. We learned all about that after we shot down the Iranian Airbus,” came the DOD reply.
“Okay, Okay. So whose job is it to stop a hijacked aircraft from flying into the Olympic Stadium?” I asked in frustration.
“Don’t let them hijack an aircraft in the first place,” the Atlanta FBI man offered.
We returned to Washington. On the flight back, I wondered aloud with John O’Neill how we would ever get the departments back in Washington to do the right thing about Atlanta Olympics security, spending the money, moving the teams. There was not much time left.
Pg. 106 – 107, Against All Enemies: Inside America’s War on Terror, Richard A. Clarke, Free Press, 2004
As you may well know now, FBI Agent John O'Neill later died in the World Trade Center on 9/11. The Atlanta Olympics was bombed, killing a single volunteer security guard, wounding and maiming many others. The bomber, a radically violent Christian, five years later was finally apprehended he was abortion clinic serial bomber, Eric Rudolph.

Bush rages:"I am not Beelzebub, Lord of Sulfur"
Mike Whitney writes from Information Clearinghouse a scathing review of Hugo's stunning speech before the UN General Assembly. Which according to him won a 5 minute standing ovation that was edited out of the televised broadcast.
Here's some of Mike's rave:
Whatever it is; it seems to be working. After skewering Bush as “the devil” and sniffing around for sulfur (the traditional sign of Lucifer) Chavez performed his ablutions with a sign of the cross and an angelic expression worthy of Botticelli.
If you’re a lefty, it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Chavez should give lessons in public speaking. His appearance was like a clap of thunder; waving Chomsky with one hand and pummeling Bush with the other.
He managed to heap more muck on “Guantanamo Nation” than anyone since Harold Pinter gave his blistering Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech on 12-7-05.
That’s when Pinter said: “The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have ever talked about them. You have to hand it to America. It has exercised quite a clinical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It is a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis.”
Chavez matched Pinter word for word, exposing the hypocrisy, lies and brutality of an administration that never stops lecturing about freedom and liberation even though it grinds out mountains of carnage everywhere it goes.
And where was Bush when Chavez delivered his broadside ….hiding behind Karen Hughes skirts, picking out a new eye-liner for his next televised harangue against Muslims, retrieving his Yale pom-poms from the dry-cleaners?
[ .... ]
There’s no time to lose. We have to dump Bush NOW and get on with the pressing issues of global warming, peak oil, nuclear proliferation, poverty and AIDS.
Chavez is right; the present model for global rule is broken and corrupt.
We need a change.
“Capitalism is savagery,” Chavez boomed.

Drought may eclipse Dust Bowl
Local scientist's work first to show regional forecasts
By Todd Neff, Camera Staff Writer
September 20, 2006
LONGMONT — Global warming could — in the coming decades — bring Colorado and neighboring states 12-year droughts more severe than the 1930s-era Dust Bowl, says a study that Boulder scientist Martin Hoerling presented Tuesday.
Hoerling said the work, presented at a drought conference hosted by the Geological Society of America, is the first to translate the results of global-warming models into regional drought predictions.

News & Analysis: "I Was a Propaganda Intern in Iraq"
22/August/2006 interview excerpt:
He was just 22 years old and he was an intern at the Lincoln Group, the Washington-based government contractor. The company gained notoriety last November after the Los Angeles Times first revealed it was being paid by the Pentagon to plant stories in the Iraqi press as part of a secret military propaganda campaign. A subsequent Pentagon investigation in March cleared the Lincoln Group of any wrongdoing.
Today, we speak with that former intern of the Lincoln Group. Willem Marx is a freelance writer and a graduate student in journalism at New York University. His article detailing his experience is published in the latest issue of Harpers Magazine. It's titled "Misinformation Intern: My summer as a military propagandist in Iraq." He joins us on the line from Uzbekistan.
Later during the interview Willem talks of ... the money.
AMY GOODMAN: $10 million. According to MSNBC, "In December 2005, Pentagon documents indicate the Lincoln Group […] received a $100 million contract to help produce these favorable articles, translate [them] into Arabic, get them placed in Iraqi newspapers and not reveal the Pentagon's role.”
WILLEM MARX: I think MSNBC has got it slightly confused. The Lincoln Group was one of three companies also offered -- also contracted for up to $100 million for a contract with the Psychological Operations Joint Task Force, I think it’s called, down in Florida. And that $100 million was dependent on pictures they made, ideas they came up with and could then sell to the military. That contract, with Lincoln Group at least, has been canceled, I think as recently as this month. I think I saw a piece in the Washington Post reporting that.
So that $100 million, very little of it was ever given to the company, I think, and it was certainly touted by them as one of their major crowning achievements. But these are $20 million over two months, the $10 million a month for media placement in Iraq, was a separate contract with the military in Iraq.

In This Moment: Ministers condemn Phill Kline's church-based fundraising as idolatry
Writers; Diane Silver, Nancy Jane Moore, Pamela K. Taylor and Eleanor Arnason from the Kansas Web Lob "In this Moment: An Uncommon Blog of Hope and Politics" are gathering the news on Ks. A.G. Phill Kline's campaign juggernaut machine fleecing the wealthiest of the howling pentacostals' purses.
Now the women are reporting that a statement from other churches are opposing his methods.
Read some excerpts of the church leaders' statement, then click on to their fine web log. All from the "Kansas Blog Wire" at the top of every scroll on the left hand margin of the FCF:
EXCERPTS of THE STATEMENT from "MAINSTREAM VOICES OF FAITH"
It is evident that in his quest to garner contributions and votes from conservative, evangelical, and fundamentalist congregations, Kline has asked churches to walk dangerously close to the line drawn by the Internal Revenue Service that prohibits nonprofit organizations from supporting political candidates. [FCF - emphasis added.]
In fact, Kline has asked them to cross that line...
Does not asking pastors to identify the five members of their congregations with the deepest pockets and assembling groups of lay people to be campaign workers constitute a blatant violation of IRS Code Section 501(c)3?
The Attorney General of the State of Kansas, of all people, should know better.
[Also, below, an embedded link to the authors of the church statement. - FCF]
Other ministers and religious leaders can sign the statement by visiting the organization's web site.Mainstream Voices of Faith is a program of the MAINstream Coalition.
I will send up the complete statement tomorrow.

Tomdispatch Interview: Chalmers Johnson on Our Fading Republic
Tomdispatch Interview: Chalmers Johnson on Our Fading Republic
In Part 1 of his interview, Chalmers Johnson suggested what that fall-of-the-Berlin-Wall, end-of-the-Cold-War moment meant to him; explored how deeply empire and militarism have entered the American bloodstream; and began to consider what it means to live in an unacknowledged state of military Keynesianism, garrisoning the planet, and with an imperial budget -- a real yearly Pentagon budget -- of perhaps three-quarters of a trillion dollars. Tom
What Ever Happened to Congress?
A Tomdispatch Interview with Chalmers Johnson
(Part 2)
Tomdispatch: You were discussing the lunacy of the 2007 Pentagon budget…
Chalmers Johnson: What I don't understand is that the current defense budget and the recent Quadrennial Defense Review (which has no strategy in it at all) are just continuations of everything we did before. Make sure that the couple of hundred military golf courses around the world are well groomed, that the Lear jets are ready to fly the admirals and generals to the Armed Forces ski resort in Garmisch in the Bavarian Alps or the military's two luxury hotels in downtown Seoul and Tokyo.
What I can't explain is what has happened to Congress. Is it just that they're corrupt? That's certainly part of it. I'm sitting here in California's 50th district. This past December, our congressman Randy Cunningham confessed to the largest single bribery case in the history of the U.S. Congress: $2.4 million in trinkets -- a Rolls Royce, some French antiques -- went to him, thanks to his ability as a member of the military subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee to add things secretly to the budget. He was doing this for pals of his running small companies. He was adding things even the Department of Defense said it didn't want.
This is bribery and, as somebody said the other day, Congress comes extremely cheap. For $2.4 million, these guys got about $175 million in contracts. It was an easy deal.
The military is out of control. As part of the executive branch, it's expanded under cover of the national security state. Back when I was a kid, the Pentagon was called the Department of War. Now, it's the Department of Defense, though it palpably has nothing to do with defense. Hasn't for a long time. We even have another department of the government today that's concerned with "homeland security." You wonder what on Earth do we have that for -- and a Dept of Defense, too!
The government isn't working right. There's no proper supervision. The founders, the authors of the Constitution, regarded the supreme organ to be Congress. The mystery to me -- more than the huge expansion of executive branch powers we've seen since the neoconservatives and George Bush came to power -- is: Why has Congress failed us so completely? Why are they no longer interested in the way the money is spent? Why does a Pentagon budget like this one produce so little interest? Is it that people have a vested interest in it, that it's going to produce more jobs for them?
I wrote an article well before Cunningham confessed called The Military-Industrial Man in which I identified a lot of what he was doing, but said unfortunately I didn't know how to get rid of him in such a safe district. After it appeared on the Los Angeles Times op-ed page, the paper got a couple of letters to the editor from the 34th district in downtown LA saying, I wish he was my congressman. If he'd bring good jobs here, I wouldn't mind making something that just gets blown up or sunk in the ground like missile defense in Alaska. I mean, we've already spent $100 billion on what amounts to a massive high-tech scarecrow. It couldn't hit a thing. The aiming devices aren't there. The tests fail. It doesn't work. It's certainly a cover for something much more ominous -- the expansion of the Air Force into outer space or "full spectrum dominance," as they like to put it.

An important Tomdispatch Interview: Chalmers Johnson on Our Military Empire
I consider Chalmers Johnson one of the most important scholars of what I call the "New Isolationists."
A former staunch conservative Republican he took a distinct turn away from the Republican party before the election of President Bush.
An important interview with him was recently posted at Tom Dispatch, here is a brief excerpt:
Cold Warrior in a Strange Land
A Tomdispatch Interview with Chalmers Johnson
(Part 1)
As he and his wife Sheila drive me through downtown San Diego in the glare of mid-day, he suddenly exclaims, "Look at that structure!" I glance over and just across the blue expanse of the harbor is an enormous aircraft carrier. "It's the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan," he says, "the newest carrier in the fleet. It's a floating Chernobyl and it sits a proverbial six inches off the bottom with two huge atomic reactors. You make a wrong move and there goes the country's seventh largest city."
Soon, we're heading toward their home just up the coast in one of those fabled highway traffic jams that every description of Southern California must include. "We feel we're far enough north," he adds in the kind of amused tone that makes his company both alarming and thoroughly entertaining, "so we could see the glow, get the cat, pack up, and head for Quartzsite, Arizona."
Chalmers Johnson, who served in the U.S. Navy and now is a historian of American militarism, lives cheek by jowl with his former service. San Diego is the headquarters of the 11th Naval District. "It's wall to wall military bases right up the coast," he comments. "By the way, this summer the Pentagon's planning the largest naval concentration in the Pacific in the post-World War II period! Four aircraft-carrier task forces -- two from the Atlantic and that's almost unprecedented -- doing military exercises off the coast of China."

FCF network is big! Writer Anwaar Hussain tips readers!
I received the following from the great writer Anwaar Hussain who broadcasts from his forum in the United Arab Emirates, and writes some of the best essays in the blogosphere.
Check this out!
I published "Project Censored" when Dr. Ben Bagdakian first started the "project" years ago before Gulf War One. Back then it was just a list passed around through the alternative press networks, now it comes out as an annual book. These and others will be appearing in the 2007 issue.
Here is Anwaar's brief message, the link below takes you to his forum where the headlines to the 25 "Project Censored" stories are linked, you'll be reading more about this in the future here at the FCF web log.
Anwaar's letter begins below:
