Enough of the 9/11 Conspiracies, Already
I am sick of this and you can't have anymore pickles out in the Blue Barn's barrel, if you keep it up. Here is a good final word on this divisive subject as well as some credible sources to keep on the desk. Geez, talk about energy intensive.
Enough of the 9/11 Conspiracies, Already
The KS-AG & the political firestorm coming this November!
Kansans might just be waking up and once again steering this country out of the the most disasterous governments in the history of this country. It is long, long overdue and may be too late to avert economic depression, but before the plummet into that abyss - a powerful message is ready to be sent.
You can help send that message by kicking out some of the political religious cogs, by running Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, Congressman Jim Ryun and other Republicans out of office this November.
Hats Off! Here's to the the best daily newspaper in Kansas, the Lawrence Journal World and one of the last full time paid journalists covering the Kansas legislative statehouse, Scott Rothschild.
Rothschild somehow intercepted an "anonymously leaked" 4 page email that has blown the cover off the not-so-stealthy campaign of Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline and the whole culture of corporate corruption surrounding the now defunct and "party of Lincoln".
Kansas, the state that fought the Civil War before the nation went to war, is once again over 150 years later emerging on the nation's political battleground. Now is the time to start tolling the bells against the whole Republican juggernaut that has used the Christian religion to line their political pockets. Get the vote out and with a vengence!
Kansas stands at a historic crossroads, again, and the people stand a chance this November to finally after years of stumblebum idiotic single party obediance to break out and break free from the mental shackles of political slavery.
Now is the time! Read the link below.
One of the biggest web logs in the country The Daily Kos (linked below) has put it out to the nation.
Read the entry, download the leaked memo and see just how slimy with slimfast this pack makes Christians out to be.

Palast Charged with Journalism in the First Degree
It is happening and the nation of paranoid amnesiacs motors along in 10 mpg SUV's munching on junk food cussing liberals; the Bloggers with a videotape, anti-war tee-shirt protesters, bumpersticker environmentalists, and now one of the last independent investigative reporters with any wide-scale exposure: arrested.
Greg Palast writes about a hilarious, but serious escapade with the doughnut eating, bored DHS gumshoes.
Read an excerpt then go to the link below and follow his advice at the end of the article.
On August 22nd, for LinkTV and DemocracyNow! we videotaped the thousands of Katrina evacuees still held behind barbed wire in a trailer park encampment a hundred miles from New Orleans. It’s been a year since the hurricane and 73,000 POW’s (Prisoners of W) are still in this aluminum ghetto in the middle of nowhere. One resident Pamela Lewis said, “It is a prison set-up” — except there are no home furloughs for these inmates because they no longer have homes.
To give a sense of the full flavor and smell of the place, we wanted to show that this human parking lot, with kids and elderly, is nearly adjacent to the Exxon Oil refinery, the nation’s second largest, a chemical-belching behemoth.
So we filmed it. Without Big Brother’s authorization. Uh, oh. Apparently, the broadcast of these stinking smokestacks tipped off Osama that, if his assassins pose as poor Black folk, they can get a cramped Airstream right next to a “critical infrastructure” asset.
Two weeks later Palast delves into the criminal complaint by calling the "victim" - poor old Exxon energy ...
So I rang America’s top petroleum pusher-men and asked their media relations honcho in Houston, Marc Boudreaux, a simple question. “Do you want us to go to jail or not? Is it Exxon’s position that reporters should go to jail?” Because, all my dumb-ass jokes aside, that is what’s at stake. And Exxon knew we were journalists because we showed our press credential to the Exxon guards at the refinery entrance.
The Exxon man was coy: “Well, we’ll see what we can find out… Obviously it’s important to national security that we have supplies from that refinery in the event of an emergency.”
Really? According to the documents our team uncovered from the offices of Exxon’s lawyer, Mr. James Baker, the oil industry is more than happy to see a limit on worldwide crude production. Indeed, the current squeeze has jacked the price of oil from $24 a barrel to $64 and refined products have jumped yet higher — resulting in a record-busting profit for Exxon of nearly $1 billion per week.
So this silly “criminal complaint” has nothing to do with stopping Al Qaeda or keeping the oil flowing. It has everything to do with obstructing news reports in a way that no one would have dared attempt before the September 11 attack.
Greg may be a bit off on the "Peak Oil" issue, but he doesn't deserve any of this harassment. Read the whole article to the bottom where he passes important support information to readers.

BuzzFlash interview with decorated Ambassador Joe Wilson - a civil government of gentlemen has ended.
Today gentlemen do not win.
Thanks to Buzzflash for posting this interview. Another reason to read the headline streams along the left margin of the FCF web log.
Here is a pertinent excerpt (bear in mind the "sixteen words" Wilson discusses below brought Bush overwhelming support for the Iraq invasion):
BuzzFlash: In the end, they (Washington Post ed/op - FCF) say you were incorrect in your claim about the Niger uranium -- even though the White House and the 9/11 Commission have admitted you were correct. We think it's important to go back, to read Novak’s columns, and see what the White House’s megaphone. Mr. Novak, was saying back then. One of the things we distinctly recall at the time this story broke was that the CIA had actually told the White House in the autumn, before the President included the infamous "sixteen words" in his State of the Union speech, that this was not to be used, that the sources were not confirmed, that it wasn’t reliable information. The Niger claim had actually been pulled from an earlier speech, but then somehow ended up in the State of the Union address. Condoleezza Rice has said that it was an error. It was just a mistake, sort of, that it ended up in the State of the Union speech. Given all this, I guess I would have to ask the Washington Post, how could they claim that you made an erroneous charge?
Joseph Wilson: Your guess is as good as mine. I’ve offered over the years to meet with their editorial board. I’ve never gotten the courtesy of a response. But it’s hard for me to say, not really knowing these people very well, not being part of that group, what their thinking is on this. But you’re absolutely right that it was reported at the time, in their own newspaper. Condoleezza Rice offered an apology. Stephen Hadley offered his resignation. So I’m the one who behaved badly, or I was incorrect? There was never anything to the story, and everybody knew it. Colin Powell said we all knew there was nothing to the story. I don’t know what the Post was thinking. They are basically one of the many institutions that abdicated their responsibility to provide some semblance of oversight over this administration.
One other thing about the Post ... I think it’s been clear to anybody who cares about the news that, for awhile, that the quality of reporting in what we call mainstream media has been declining. I think one reason why you see such a surge in popularity of the so-called blog world is a direct response to that. It is the American way. If you don’t like what you’re getting from your normal provider, you go find another provider. I think that’s what people are doing. And I must say I’m one of them who now spends much more time going through the blogs than I ever did before, because I’m just not getting the quality of news that I expect and that we should demand from an independent press in this country. (- FCF emphasis added)
BuzzFlash: David Corn has written in Hubris and in his blog at The Nation, that your wife, Valerie Plame, oversaw the CIA special operational desk that was set up before the invasion of Iraq to in part confirm whether or not there were WMDs there. And it has been said in the press for some time that your wife was a specialist in tracking the illicit sales, transfer, and existence of weapons of mass destruction. Can you discuss that at all?
Joseph Wilson: I’ve read accounts of the Hubris book, and it has been reported by the press that she was with the CIA proliferation division. I don’t think that she would question that reporting. With respect to a specific job responsibility, I really don’t have any comment.

CounterPunch: The 9/11 conspiracy nuts.
While ABC's "The Path to 9/11" has a head lock on the M$M prime time Legion of Doom viewers CP head honcho, Alexander Cockburn, sucker punches the vast number of dissidents gone bonkers over the last few years about the Big Question.
Did Darth Vadar Dick Cheney order a hit on the WTC to con the country into invading the Middle East?
Will mild mannered (though slightly dyslexic) George "Clark Kent" Bush admit he swallowed Cheney and Rumsfeld's kryptonite pill?
Only when we solve these vexatious questions will our country be healed enough to consider dumping the whole gang. Until then, street fighting against the "War on Terror" and pushing impeachment is futile.
Follow the "magic bullet" until your head swims, and old age ensues - maybe start a little cottage business peddling paranoia, tour the talk shows - cry repression of the Truth!
If you're one of the dolts munching my pickles in the Blue Barn, then this one is a definite read - or stay away from the farm.
Excerpt below (just to stir up the shitstorm among my lurking readers):
You trip over one fundamental idiocy of the 9/11 conspiracy nuts -- -- the ones who say Bush and Cheney masterminded the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon -- in the first paragraph of the opening page of the book by one of their high priests, David Ray Griffin, The New Pearl Harbor. “In many respects,” Griffin writes, “the strongest evidence provided by critics of the official account involves the events of 9/11 itself… In light of standard procedures for dealing with hijacked airplanes… not one of these planes should have reached its target, let alone all three of them.”
The operative word here is “should”. One characteristic of the nuts is that they have a devout, albeit preposterous belief in American efficiency, thus many of them start with the racist premise that “Arabs in caves” weren’t capable of the mission. They believe that military systems work the way Pentagon press flacks and aerospace salesmen say they should work. They believe that at 8.14 am, when AA flight 11 switched off its radio and transponder, an FAA flight controller should have called the National Military Command center and NORAD. They believe, citing reverently (this is from high priest Griffin) “the US Air Force’s own website”, that an F-15 could have intercepted AA flight 11 “by 8.24, and certainly no later than 8.30”.

Here is an excerpt:
The significance of Hagee is that he chairs a group called Christians United For Israel (CUFI) which believes that the U.S. must unite to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran to precipitate Armageddon, followed by the more desirable Second Coming of Jesus. Hagee would be just another sweating evangelist lunatic if it weren't for the fact that his group has the ear of the White House. RNC chair Ken Mehlman took time out from bashing Ned Lamont to speak at CUFI's inaugural banquet in Washington in July, and both Sam Brownback and Rick Santorum also addressed the group. Meanwhile, Hagee at the banquet reportedly read out greetings from Ehud Olmert and George W. Bush himself, who apparently said, "God Bless and stand by the people of Israel and God Bless the United States." (FCF emphasis)

Sen. Feingold Stands Up...Again
Sen. Feingold Stands Up...Again
by Dave Lindorff
Once again, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), has nailed it, doing exactly the right thing, acting in a courageous manner as a progressive politician should act.
It is clear to everyone in Congress that President Bush knows he's in deep political and legal trouble over his warrantless NSA spying program. It has been declared a violation of the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence law passed by Congress in 1978, and the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, by a federal judge in Detroit. His justification for breaking those laws--that he is the commander in chief in a so-called "war" on terror--was summarily slapped down and tossed out by the U.S. Supreme Court in the course of its Hamdi v. Rumsfeld decision in June.
And anyone who thinks honestly about why the president would have decided to violate the FISA law and avoid seeking warrants for the spy program from a group of secret, top-security-clearance-rated judges in a special FISA court that has only rejected four such requests in 28 years has to admit that Bush is clearly doing something outrageous (most likely spying on his political enemies in a replay of Nixon's actions, the very crime that led Congress to pass FISA in the first place).
My own Senator Arlen Specter, a Republican who keeps playing at liberal to the home crowd in Pennsylvania but who has shown himself to be nothing but an enabler of Bush's constitutional crime wave, held hearings on the NSA spying.
He huffed and puffed a little about its being illegal, and then came up with a proposal that, if passed by Congress, would retroactively exonerate the president of his crime against the Constitution, while establishing a new shortcut to permit the warrantless spying to continue unabated, and unmonitored by either Congress or the FISA court.
It looked like this atrocity of Specter's was going to pass into law, but Sen. Feingold, with the help of, not Democrats, but three Republican senators he rounded up who still respect the Bill of Rights and rule of law, managed to fend it off by way of a filibuster threat.
Feingold deserves all of our thanks for this move--so uncharacteristic of his feckless Democratic colleagues, who continue to cower at the thought of an attack by Karl Rove and his media minions.
The amazing thing is that when Feingold introduced a censure motion against Bush late last year, his approval rating among Democrats and among the general population soared--a clear indication that he has the political positions that American voters are looking for. It is likely that Feingold's numbers will jump again as news of his latest action in the Senate spreads.
And yet most Democrats in Congress still remain supine when it comes to standing up to the Bush administration.
Part of the problem, as always, is the mass media, which largely ignore Sen. Feingold, or as they did in the case of his censure motion, ridicule his actions. When Feinfold proposed censuring the president, which was a bold move that only two of his Senate colleagues endorsed (and then only after intense pressure from their constituents), the New York Times buried the story on page 19.
Two days later though, the paper, in a textbook example of inappropriate news judgment, ran a page-one "reaction" story, reporting that Republicans were claiming to be happy to see censure and impeachment in the news, as this would presumably "energize" their political base. Nowhere in that story was there any mention of how censure or impeachment would similarly energize the Democratic base in November.
Hopefully, Feingold will not be deterred by threats from the right, abuse by the media, or the cowardice and lack of support of his fellow Democrats, and will continue to press the fight against the Bush administration's assault on the Constitution and on American democracy and freedom.
So far, based upon his consistent opposition to "free-trade" legislation, his opposition to the Iraq War, his opposition to the Patriot Act, his censure motion, and now his effort to block passage of a law exonerating Bush expost facto of his domestic spying crimes, it doesn't look like he is going to back down.
Right there, he has distinguished himself from the pack of weasels and poll-hugging opportunists lining up to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

Eleven critical minutes from "The Power of Nightmares: The rise of the politics of fear." BBC
A pretty important portion of the the documentary that questions the foundation of the "War on Terror" as applied within the United States.
It would be funny if the cuts weren't so seriously real:
Click: The War on Terror is a Fraud
The World's View of the US 'War on Terror' - by Norman Solomon
The USA's mass media constantly tell us how Americans see the "war on terror." But the same outlets rarely tell us much about how the rest of the world sees it.
Five years after 9/11, the gap between perceptions is enormous. Countless polls confirm the overall chasm. Yet, day to day, the media messages that surround us in the United States simply recycle American views for American viewers, listeners and readers.
But there are exceptions. A recent one aired on "PRI's The World," a co-production of Public Radio International, WGBH in Boston and the BBC World Service. "We decided to check in with people in different parts of the globe to get their perspectives on the White House's war on terror," the anchor said on the Sept. 5 broadcast.

'Gaza is a jail. Nobody is allowed to leave. We are all starving now'
A whole society is being destroyed. There are 1.5 million Palestinians imprisoned in the most heavily populated area in the world. Israel has stopped all trade. It has even forbidden fishermen to go far from the shore so they wade into the surf to try vainly to catch fish with hand-thrown nets.
Many people are being killed by Israeli incursions that occur every day by land and air. A total of 262 people have been killed and 1,200 wounded, of whom 60 had arms or legs amputated, since 25 June, says Dr Juma al-Saqa, the director of the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City which is fast running out of medicine. Of these, 64 were children and 26 women.
This bloody conflict in Gaza has so far received only a fraction of the attention given by the international media to the war in Lebanon.

The Law of Opposites - by Rep. Ron Paul (R - Tx.)
"We're constantly being told that we cannot abandon Iraq and we are obligated to stay forever if necessary. This admonition is similar to a rallying cry from a determined religious missionary bent on proselytizing to the world with a particular religious message. Conceding that leaving may not be a panacea for Iraqi tranquility, this assumption ignores two things. One, our preemptive war ignited the Iraqi civil war, and two, abandoning the Iraqi people is not the question. The real question is whether or not we should abandon the American people by forcing them to pay for an undeclared war with huge economic and human costs, while placing our national security in greater jeopardy by ignoring our borders and serious problems here at home.
In our attempt to make Iraq a better place, we did great harm to Iraqi Christians. Before our invasion in 2003 there were approximately 1.2 million living in Iraq. Since then over half have been forced to leave due to persecution and violence. Many escaped to Syria. With the neocons wanting to attack Syria, how long will they be safe there? The answer to the question, "Aren't we better off without Saddam Hussein," is not an automatic yes for Iraqi Christians.
We've been told for decades that our policy of militarism and preemption in the Middle East is designed to provide security for Israel. Yet a very strong case can be made that Israel is more vulnerable than ever, with moderate Muslims being challenged by a growing majority of Islamic radicals. As the vincibility of the American and Israeli military becomes common knowledge, Israel's security is diminished and world opinion turns against her, especially after the failed efforts to remove the Hezbollah threat.
We were told that attacking and eliminating Hezbollah was required to diminish the Iranian threat against Israel. The results again were the opposite. This failed effort has only emboldened Iran.
The lack of success of conventional warfare – the U.S. In Vietnam, the Soviets in Afghanistan, the U.S. In Iraq and Afghanistan, Israel in Lebanon – should awaken our policy makers to our failure in war and diplomacy. Yet all we propose are bigger bombs and more military force for occupation, rather than working to understand an entirely new generation of modern warfare.
Many reasons are given for our preemptive wars and military approach for spreading the American message of freedom and prosperity, which is an obvious impossibility. Our vital interests are always cited for justification, and it's inferred that those who do not support our militancy are unpatriotic. Yet the opposite is actually the case: Wise resistance to one's own government doing bad things requires a love of country, devotion to idealism, and respect for the Rule of Law."

What George Bush Didn't Say About Guantanamo
Exclusive perspective from Truthout.org:
"According to Bush, secret prisons and torture have kept America safe. Not entirely true. While fessing up to the secret prisons, one of the critical things Bush failed to tell the American people was that CIA interrogators learned the hard way that torture was not an effective interrogation method. Books written by Jim Risen and Ron Suskind during the past two years provide compelling accounts that torture against people, particularly Khalid Sheikh Mohamad (KSM), was ineffective. Suskind recounts that KSM, one of the masterminds behind the 9-11 attack, was waterboarded - a technique designed to make you feel like you are drowning. Interrogators also threatened to rape and murder his family. KSM reportedly replied, "Do what you will, my family will be with God."
Bush also neglected to mention that, despite his previous criticism of the Clinton Administration for not fighting terrorism as a military threat, almost all of the Al Qaeda operatives cited in his speech were captured through intelligence operations. In other words, most of the successes we have achieved as a nation in tracking down and capturing terrorists has been the work of law enforcement and and intelligence officials, not our soldiers. " (FCF emphasis)

FUND RAISING, MET BY OVER 200 PROTESTERS
Watch the opening interview or read the rush transcript of the following exchange:
JUAN GONZALEZ: Now, in the conversation we had before we went on the air, you mentioned also that the bill addresses this whole issue of whether American citizens can be held as enemy combatants and put in military tribunals versus being tried in regular American courts.
BARBARA OLSHANSKY: Yeah. And this was something that really we have had a number of conversations about, you know, with people on the Hill, some people in the White House, about the fact that an administration bill that was leaked included the word “people” instead of the word “aliens,” because the President's November 13th military order in 2001 said “non-citizens.” Well, now, the language says an unlawful enemy combatant can be any individual. And it's very clear that that means Americans. It can mean anyone in the world. There is no exclusion, you know, for Americans. And the language of who can be an enemy combatant has been tremendously expanded. So it could be, you know, not only al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations, but other associated forces and just others who are unnamed. And it's any hostile act, not necessarily a military act. Am I hostile by talking about what's wrong with this, by sitting here with you? How are we going to know that? And then I end up in Guantanamo in a military commission, where the death penalty can result? This is astounding stuff.

The End of Eden
A CHALLENGE TO CHANGE.
WELCOMING AN OLD MAN FROM ENGLAND.
It seems like many years ago, in fact it was only twenty or so, when in a small farmhouse near Westmoreland, Ks. my wife and I watched a PBS special mystery "Edge of Darkness".
The feature length series, lasting over three weekends and six hours, was an import from England depicting a secret struggle among a radioactive stew of nuclear weapon scientists, Scotland Yard cops and some politically activist environmental children.
The movie was the first time I had ever heard of the term "Gaia" to describe planet Earth as a living organism.
At that time I had attended many protests; defending Leonard Peltier in Leavenworth's federal prison (he is now being held in Springfield, Mo.), opposing apartheid in South Africa (before Nelson Mandela was released) and a nationally mobilized demonstration at a large CFC factory near Wichita, Ks. (which did in fact result in government regulations against CFC's in aerosols then depleting the ozone) among many others.
A life of learning requires an intellectual appetite for a wide feast of experiences based on experiments in working theories on the ground. I still consider the philosophical tool of the dialectic as the most indispensible of tools for gaining a critical understanding and changing the world we survive within.
Studying contradictions solve most of the handy mysteries in life.
The orphaned sister of the philosopical "dialectical" linked in the last few centuries to all the toilers of humankind, "materialist" means less and less to me as I age. Toilers of all countries seem more fond today of the pursuit of luxury, not seeing to the necessities of their fellows.
That PBS series of "Mystery" was taped on a now defunct VHS recorder and has been watched many times since, passed around among friends, returned and stretched, scratched and static filled - it rests in three plastic boxes under my current television set, but in another farm house in Northeast Kansas.
The old man who coined the word "Gaia" is coming to the United States.
The old man at 88 years of age, who still sails into life's harbor with humor and humility, who coined the term "Gaia" will no doubt be listened to, describing again his theories about this planet as a living organism in rebellion against our ravages. The theories will be conveniently overlooked by billions - and neglected, scorned and mocked derisively by the soon extinct political creatures currently leading us.
If he is correct in his scientific findings from his cottage lab in the backyard and I believe he nearer the truth than any among us, we will be dragged to it by reality in the not-too-distant future. Should you or I care, we're mostly dead in thirty or forty years, but what of those eyes you stare into everyday, the eyes of the younger people around you?
Shall I allow that truth to drag my most familiar child, and yours too, to a most ignominous future? Would you if you knew?
The old man scientist has scared the shit out of his fellow scientists lately.
Mainly, also because his scientific use of "dialectics" is starting to interfere with so many "materialists" hellbent on fleeting luxury and wealth.
His theory seems to be the biggest "inconvenient truth" to grasp among the scientists and every day people today.
And he never ran for president.
Read it and do not weep, question his findings if you must - but challenge yourself with an open mind and prepare to stare into the "Edge of Darkness."

US Army planners develop demand destruction on global scale
It was only a few years ago that the neocons surrounding the Bush political juggernaut were described as the "crazies" among many of the powerful within the DC beltway.
Before Cheney and his secret energy task force of Big Energy moguls met in the White House, before 9/11 was used to negate the Nuremburg Laws immediately after WWII which made pre-emptive wars of agression a capital offense for leaders of all countries that signed off on that treaty. The American imperialists were making policy plans for the situation the world is facing today.
They are not crazy, but completely rational from a psychopathological viewpoint of wanton empire.
The "crazies" have taken the country that far, violating the laws pounded out by jurists seeking an international order of law to end international wars. The "crazies" have persuaded tens of millions in American that we must literally piss on the blood spilled by hundreds of thousands of dead Americans who died fighting during that world war.
Now if a section of despondent and overpaid bunch of suburbanites managing and filtering the information highways to all the loyal grandparents out here in the real world would call them crazy, why wouldn't certain fellow American imperialists from within the military aid and abet the "crazies" in furthering international war crimes?
Suck-ass brownie points ensure the bureaucrats' retirement pensions. Whether it's on the factory floor for a foreman or a humble civil servant in the "military industrial complex."
I have been developing a theory for the last few months as the approaching war crisis develops over Iran with a working title called, "Peak Oil, Demand Destruction on Planet Earth" where American imperialism - an empire in the early throes of massive global demand for petroleum and immediate chronic shortage - takes on the unthinkable of just a few years ago. The wholesale air bombing of developing countries into pre-industrialized states of non-petroleum based economies.
Reduce the demand for petroleum by bombing a significant number of civilizations around the Persian Gulf and the Middle East into what the mad rednecks in Kansas call "the stone age." According to that naked Rush Limbaugh logic, "better them than us."
It is the "logic" of a psychopathic regime of Big Energy moguls.
To the doubting readers I offer this quick retort.
Obviously this would require a "shock and awe" snapshot that has already been repeated in both Iraq and most recently, Lebanon. You want to know what it looks like? Look at what has already been done to the people living in those countries.
And unfortunately the transnational munition manufacturers, Boeing, Lockheed Martin et. al. are all too willing to ship the missiles and bombs to whoever the Pentagon and the Bush "cabal" approves. Whether it be Israel and the mad Zionists running that country, or some shaky Saudi royal family armed to the teeth with F16 jet fighters or cruise missiles.
Here is an analysis by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed who is the author of The London Bombings: An Independent Inquiry.
He teaches courses in International Relations at the School of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies, University of Sussex, Brighton, where he is doing his PhD studying imperialism and genocide.
Since 9/11, he has authored three other books revealing the realpolitik behind the rhetoric of the "War on Terror", The War on Freedom, Behind the War on Terror, and The War on Truth: 9/11, Disinformation and the Anatomy of Terrorism.
In summer 2005, he testified as an expert witness in US Congress about his research on international terrorism.

Islamo-Fascism and the True Appeasers Project for the Old American Century blog
Tj Templeton is editor of Project for the Old American Century. He has produced a truly great essay on the latest craze of the Bush Administration to rile up the obedient followers by calling critics "appeasers" and in like fashion, as their fearless leader invented a new school of political/religious thought for the "evil doers" now they are calling the enemy "Islamo-Fascists".
I watched Tammy Bruce on C-Span 2 this Labor Day weekend and was floored when the talk show radio host started slipping the word in during her 3 hour interview. This from a self-styled "progressive" lesbian gun owner who supports abortion, who insisted on voting for Bush both times and was so worried about the second election result she went to Disneyland to decompress during the vote count.
Why her support for Bush? It was his leadership in the phony "War on Terrorism" that spawned her talk show support for the fearless leader. She also thinks anti-war "peace" people are mentally ill. And of course she absolutely hates the lefties she calls the "Thought Police."
Weird. Tj Templeton lays it all out for us about fascism and links it so we can learn for ourselves. Check him out at:

This holiday weekend Olbermann's MSNBC cable television program was the source of several conversations in the Flyer's Blue Barn with visiting staff members from afar. It was one of the positive themes that encouraged resistance to the "Thought Police" of both left and right wing.
Here is a portion of Olbermann's sign-off that night:
This country faces a new type of fascism - indeed.
Although I presumptuously use his sign-off each night, in feeble tribute, I have utterly no claim to the words of the exemplary journalist Edward R. Murrow.
But never in the trial of a thousand years of writing could I come close to matching how he phrased a warning to an earlier generation of us, at a time when other politicians thought they (and they alone) knew everything, and branded those who disagreed: "confused" or "immoral."
Thus, forgive me, for reading Murrow, in full:
"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty," he said, in 1954. "We must remember always that accusation is not proof, and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law.
"We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men, not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were for the moment unpopular."
And so good night, and good luck.
Olbermann makes an interesting historical analogy about Rumsfeld's American Legion convention address. And pay special attention to the "batteries in backwards" pivot phrase.

Two scholars say pro-Israel lobby has warped U.S. policy
Still, Walt said, "... We were disappointed that much of the reaction consisted of attacks on our characters or on extraneous issues rather than on a serious discussion of our main argument. ... We really didn't say anything that was all that controversial, that wasn't common knowledge inside the Beltway ..."So it wasn't what we said," he continued.
"It was rather that two card-carrying members of the mainstream foreign policy establishment with rather impeccable, even boring, middle-of-the-road credentials and absolutely no trace of anti-Semitic history, attitudes or behavior finally pointed out the elephant in the room."

Ray Close: Why Bush Will Choose War Against Iran
".... I find it extremely difficult to believe that President Bush could actually do anything so crazy as to launch a military attack against Iran, and that even if he wanted to, the Congress, the Pentagon, and the American public would ever countenance such action. But I remember in the spring of 2002 writing a "Dear Friends" memo just like this one predicting that the apparent intentions of the Bush Administration to invade Iraq would certainly turn out to be nothing but a bluff, and supporting that assertion by listing all the reasons why actually doing so would lead to utter disaster. Many of my friends told me at the time that I was missing the point --- regime change was DEFINITELY going to happen, and I was exaggerating the downside consequences. The problem is that today the downside risks of attacking Iran seem even more horrendous ---- and yet? (As George Will said last Sunday to George Stephanopoulos -- "When was the last time this president ever worried about getting approval in advance from the Congress or the public?") It makes me nervous when my president truly believes he is carrying out the will of God.
So this is why I reluctantly believe today that Bush will indeed launch an attack on Iran before the expiration of his term of office:
His list is so logical it makes your eyes bleed. Go to: Ray Close: Why Bush Will Choose War Against Iran for the complete article.

New Zealand sounds like NE Kansas
Growing public supportfor action on peak oilMonday, 28 August 2006, 2:59 pmPress Release: Green Party |
28th August 2006
After three weeks on the road talking to New Zealanders Green Party Co-Leader Russel Norman has found that New Zealanders are several steps ahead of the Government when it comes to climate change and peak oil.
“While the Government is making giant steps backwards by backing out on a carbon pollution charge, and allowing dirty coal-fired power stations to go ahead, the vast majority of New Zealanders want some forward-thinking leadership and action,” says Green Co-Leader Russel Norman.
“In the last three weeks I have spoken at meetings in Takaka, Motueka, Nelson, Blenheim, Picton, Kaikoura, Christchurch, Oamaru, Dunedin, Waitati, and Riverton about climate change and the end of cheap oil,” says Green Co-Leader Russel Norman.
“My colleagues Jeanette Fitzsimons and Sue Bradford have also spoken at public meetings in Nelson, Masterton, and West Auckland.
“What’s coming through loud and clear at these meetings is that people want the Government to take action to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and to futureproof our economy for the end of cheap oil.
“People are calling out for better public transport but the Government is obsessed with new motorways; people want investment in renewable electricity generation but the Government is allowing coal-fired power stations to proceed; the people of Hampden are already planning for peak oil while the Treasury struggles to admit its existence. (FCF - emphasis)
“Climate change and the end of cheap oil present us with three options:
· Do nothing – current New Zealand Government policy;
· Get our hands on the last of the oil, by force if necessary – current US Government policy; or
· Reduce our dependence on oil and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions – the Green option.
“My advice to the Government is to get out of the Beehive and talk to people. New Zealanders aren’t in denial about the global challenges we face and they want their Government to show some leadership.”

Paul Krugman | King George's Crumbling Monarchy

TAX FARMERS, MERCENARIES AND VICEROYS
EXCERPT: "In the bad old days, government was a haphazard affair. There was no bureaucracy to collect taxes, so the king subcontracted the job to private 'tax farmers,' who often engaged in extortion. There was no regular army, so the king hired mercenaries, who tended to wander off and pillage the nearest village. There was no regular system of administration, so the king assigned the task to favored courtiers, who tended to be corrupt, incompetent or both."

It was always a law enforcement issue no matter what our elected leaders called it immediately after September 11, 2001.
The dubious and inaccurately titled "War on Terrorism" in the last five years has not produced the culprits or cultivated the necessary international support to infiltrate the organizations and bring them to justice in the United States. Retired Colonel Lawrence B. Wilkerson, who served for over three years as the chief of staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell has repeatedly described the inept masterminds behind the disasterous policy as a secretive "cabal."
He wrote in an October 25, 2005 Los Angeles Times op-ed:
"Today, we have a president whose approval rating is 38% and a vice president who speaks only to Rush Limbaugh and assembled military forces. We have a Secretary of Defense presiding over the death-by-a-thousand-cuts of our overstretched armed forces (no surprise to ignored dissenters such as former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric Shinseki or former Army Secretary Thomas White)."
Veteran CIA analysts, international geologists, scientists and some of the most senior retired officers of the U.S. armed forces have repeatedly warned that the next strategic step of the cabal is the bombing of Iran and the catastrophic worldwide economic and geopolitical consequences the air attack will unleash.
It took over four years and at least $400 billion for President Bush to publicly hint that oil was the primary motivation of this military strategy. The nation was "addicted to oil" he said during his 2006 State of the Union address, provoking the anger of denial of tens of millions of Americans who don't like being addicted to anything.
His admission is too little and too late with historic record breaking profits for the transnational energy corporations and without a massive nationwide World War Two push toward true energy independence programs in this country. Now the empire is at stake.
9/11 was a challenge for law enforcement not more and more endless wars for world oil reserves.

Sunday August 27, 2006
The Observer writes:
The downturn in the US housing market will force businesses to slash 73,000 jobs a month in the new year and could be more damaging to the world economy than the dotcom crash, economists have warned.
After official figures last week showed that the number of new homes sold in July was 22 per cent lower than a year earlier, while prices were almost flat, fears are mounting that the 'orderly' housing slowdown predicted by the Federal Reserve will become a full-blown crash.

"Who fired the first shot?" The cynical fraud swallowed.
From a recent article by Noam Chomsky
“The standard Western version is that the July 2006 invasion was justified by legitimate outrage over capture of two Israeli soldiers at the border. The posture is cynical fraud. The US and Israel, and the West generally, have little objection to capture of soldiers, or even to the far more severe crime of kidnapping civilians (or of course to killing civilians). That had been Israeli practice in Lebanon for many years, and no one ever suggested that Israel should therefore be invaded and largely destroyed.
Western cynicism was revealed with even more dramatic clarity as the current upsurge of violence erupted after Palestinian militants captured an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, on June 25. That too elicited huge outrage, and support for Israel's sharp escalation of its murderous assault on Gaza.
The scale is reflected in casualties: in June, 36 Palestinian civilians were killed in Gaza; in July, the numbers more than quadrupled to over 170, dozens of them children.
The posture of outrage was, again, cynical fraud, as demonstrated dramatically, and conclusively, by the reaction to Israel's kidnapping of two Gaza civilians, the Muamar brothers, one day before, on June 24. They disappeared into Israel's prison system, joining the hundreds of others imprisoned without charge -- hence kidnapped, as are many of those sentenced on dubious charges.
There was some brief and dismissive mention of the kidnapping of the Muamar brothers, but no reaction, because such crimes are considered legitimate when carried out by “our side.” The idea that this crime would justify a murderous assault on Israel would have been regarded as a reversion to Nazism.”

BUILDING THE NEW 'UNDERGROUND RAILROAD'!
WHO ARE THE MUTINEERS?
AND HOW YOU CAN HELP.
The Pentagon recently released a figure of 40,000 that have deserted from the armed services since the invasion of Iraq. 200 military war resisters and their families have relocated to Canada – causing the conservative government headaches and legal disputes in their courts as they try to kick the deserters back over the border.
People are getting together about this hot issue in the United States.
And a few are doing it with quite a bit of flair for history and style.
THIS GUY’s GOT STYLE.
Vietnam Veteran, a former Navy medic reports that many more mutinies are on the way while under “house arrest”. Yep! You read it right – Ferner’s waging a fearless non-violent “asymmetrical warfare” with the Pentagon and our fearful chickenhawks in Congress and the White House.
Mike Ferner writes at his site the “Peace Felon Report.”
He’s under a two month electronic “house arrest” in Ohio after being sentenced for spray painting “Troops Out Now” on a highway overpass.
In addition to that he got 18 months probation and over $5,000 in fines. This for a guy who lost the Toledo mayoral election by a little over 900 votes of the 96,000 cast. He is leading a life worth living as so many walk among us paying no heed to the bodies lying around.
He wrote below a last entry before his internet connection was cut off from his home:
July 20 2006
Friends:
Below is an article that describes my day in court yesterday, plus an unusual editorial that appeared in today’s paper, by Toledo Blade editor and vice pres., Tom Walton.
If this story touches your heart, write me if you must, but better yet, do something for peace today that you never thought you could do. You will have my undying thanks and the thanks of those people who desperately need your commitment.
Be well. Raise some hell.
Mike Ferner
AND how did I find Mike Ferner?
I traced him from a recent essay on Information Clearinghouse at: Let Humanity's Mutiny Begin where he found some way of reporting on a recent Seattle, Washington, Veterans for Peace national convention speech that has all the anti-war groups talking.
How did Mike Ferner do that?
He’s not telling.
He’s got style.
AND WHO IS JOINING THE MUTINY?
Thousands are considering joining the mutiny, similar to the old Underground Railroad during the Civil War where anti-slavery forces supported and moved slaves and their families around to thwart the ruthless bounty hunters.
Free State Kansas was built on the foundation of the abolitionists’ Underground Railroad.
It might be time to reclaim that proud legacy again.
Kansans should consider “supporting” the modern day slaves; what Lt. Watada calls “the indentured servants” in rebellion with the Pentagon’s never ending war machine.
This very controversial idea was delivered by Lt. Ehren Watada with over 50 Iraq War veterans standing in solidarity on the stage with him before an audience of several thousand supporters, some former high ranking officers from the Viet Nam era.
Here the important t r u t h o u t reporting from their multimedia page excerpts of the same controversial speech by Lt. Watada in part one and part two (wmv. High-speed Versions). Watch it and consider helping out.
Lieutenant Ehren Watada:
“We have all seen this war tear apart our country over the past three years. It seems as though nothing we've done, from vigils to protests to letters to Congress, have had any effect in persuading the powers that be...It is time for change and the change starts with all of us…The idea is this: that to stop an illegal and unjust war, the soldiers can choose to stop fighting it.”
Lt. Watada is the foremost active service officer to refuse to deploy and his organizational skills are evident in his mutinous remarks. He has caused such a mess for the military that they have taken the unprecedented move with charging him for “making contemptuous remarks” about our smirking President.
The anti-war movement is listening, check out his fantastic multimedia web site at: Thank You Lt. Ehren Watada.
He’s facing 5 to 7 years in the stockade for what many in the anti – war movement consider exercising his First Amendment rights.
He appears to be rallying nationwide support to provide immediate physical and financial assistance to those who are refusing to deploy.
Definitely what I call “mutinous conduct” with style.
He has been accompanied and supported in the making of this new “Underground Railroad” by a 29 year military veteran and former ambassador, Ret. Col. Ann Wright. Here is a short excerpt of her background:
“Col. Ann Wright served in the U.S. Army for 13 years and in the U.S. Army Reserves for 16 years. She also served for 16 years in the U.S. diplomatic corps, and in that capacity helped reopen the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan in December 2001. She received the State Department’s Award for Heroism as the acting U.S. ambassador during the rebel takeover of Freetown, Sierra Leone in 1997.”
She resigned her government positions immediately prior to the invasion of Iraq which she considers a “war crime.”
Her help with Cindy Sheehan and other anti-war resisters is legendary.
Her stated position on Lt. Ehren Watada and others was clearly described in: To Refuse To Serve which appeared recently on TomPaine.com.
Today and the rest of this week national activities are taking place mobilizing what seems to be a developing “Underground Railroad” of what Lt. Watada calls the “indentured servants” refusing to serve in an “illegal war.”
All Kansans should remember our proud historic legacy and consider helping all the “mutineers” out.

Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq, Afghanistan - small insignificant victims, big disasters for U. S. empire.
AN EDITOR'S LAST REPORT FROM LEBANON
JUST KILL US. KILL US ALL
LEBANON - Beirut - 09 Aug 2006 - One suggestion I make from any of you is to transmit this to the Israelis:
I offer you all of us. Our flesh, our scalps, our inner parts to exhibit live on TV screens, our bare feet eaten by wolves during the night in ex- villages, our blood flooding in the streets, our kids, our mothers, our fathers , our brothers, sisters, grandparents, every single one of us.
KILL US ALL.
You can be selective if you wish. Leave those who like you, believe in you, to prosper by your side in the new whatever hell you would like to have.
JUST KILL US. DO NOT LEAVE US BEHIND. DO NOT LEAVE US TO WATCH.
So many kids, everyday, toddlers, our elderly, killed in their houses, in their shelters, so many families, on the roads trying to flee, in the "safe" centers where they took refuge.
THEY ARE ALL MINE, THE KIDS THEY KILLED, THEY ARE ALL MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY, THE "CIVILIANS" THEY KILLED, AND YOU KNOW WHAT?
THE FIGHTERS ARE FIGHTING FOR ME AND FOR MY CHILD'S TOMORROW.
THEY ARE ALL MINE, THE ONES THEY'RE KILLING.
Blood is all what we have to offer, it has always been that way.
And blood you shall have.
As much blood as your planes can get.
As much blood as your fantasies imply.
As much blood as there is in our veins.
Did you have enough blood for today?
Only in the afternoon; in Ghazyeh, in Ghassanieh, in Houla, in Britel, in Chmestar, in Ali Nahri, in Hezzine, in Tyre, in Bayyada, in Qassmieh, and those you killed a few minutes ago in Shayyah, in the southern suburb, the "Hezbollah stronghold" as your reporters label it.
In this "Hezbollah stronghold" my colleagues of the press fail to mention, where hundreds of POOR families live, and today most of them are refugees from other parts of the country.
KILL AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.
Your smart planes and smart rockets and smart asses and smart allies: kill us all.
This is not just another war.
This is extermination.
This is another fun game, the way the Israelis like them, played with US made arms, funded by YOUR MONEY, justified by YOUR PRESS, encouraged by YOUR ELECTED POLITICIANS.
SHAME ON ANY OF US WHO WILL EVER FORGET.
SHAME ON THOSE WHO WOULD EVER FORGIVE.
SHAME ON THOSE WHO WOULD EVER MENTION PEACE AGAIN:
YOUR PEACE WAS MISSED BY MY KIDS, THUS, I NEED IT NO MORE.

The New Isolationists
- ABRAHAM LINCOLN -
THE NEW ISOLATIONISTS:
IMMEDIATE TROOP WITHDRAWALS & BASE CLOSURES ABROAD,
MILITARIZE OUR BORDERS, IMPEACH OUR INEPT LEADERS &
DEMAND TRUE ENERGY INDEPENDENCE PROGRAMS NOW!
By Michael Caddell, North Jefferson County, Kansas
THE long decline of this civilization’s petroleum based energy supply is at hand. The recent production collapse of the second largest oil field in the world was reluctantly reported last month from Mexico. That “elephantine field” named Cantarell is the second biggest supplier of imported oil to our country behind Canada and will prove to mark the beginning of a geopolitical “perfect storm” looming on the immediate horizon for this country and the world.
The first cold gusts before the thunderheads arrive are being felt in the rising price of gasoline which comprises over 75% of the total oil consumed in this country. The thunder will soon be heard in this country pounding from the jet bombing missions over Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon.
The oil producing countries of the Third World are turning their backs on American markets and toward the rapidly developing Indian, Chinese and East Asian markets. Our inept national leaders and the huge budgets of the government have strapped a downsized and out—sourced middle class; soon too belabored to tax, a large angry section of bankrupt, foreclosure fatigued citizens will erupt in open rebellion. The country has been economically hollowed out, pillaged by transnational corporations, flooded with cheap illegal immigrant labor and a berserk “military industrial complex” shipping bombs and troops all over the world.
START RATIONING NOW!
BUILD TRAINS NOT TANKS, BOMBS AND MISSILES!
We may soon witness the collapse of the American Empire on a bigger scale than what the former Soviet Union endured in the mid—eighties. Combined with worldwide energy shortages the crisis will be permanent and unforgiving, from one skyrocketing price spike followed by a demand destruction to yet another price spike. The nation, leaderless and without emergency mobilizations of capital, research and manufacturing on a scale not witnessed since the Great Depression and WWII condemns us and our children’s children to a future of permanent energy and economic crisis.
Cowardly and inept, demagogic and dishonest leaders dominate our elected positions while the chattering, political mudslingers in the media eliminate from public discourse or downplay “peak oil” or “climate change.” They don’t have the guts to tell us how bleak the future is, no popularity votes or program ratings to be had with these issues, it distracts too many from the entertainment soaked culture.
No happy face motorist wants to hear this bad news—or sacrifice; in mandatory ration programs, radical soil and water conservation measures, non—petroleum based local food production drives, or recycling efforts. Too fat, lazy and cluttered, Americans are not ready for this massive change, yet.
It’s “shop till you drop.” And drop we shall and very soon.
The biggest oil field in the world, Ghawar, located in Saudi Arabia is long overdue and may have already started to decline and collapse in daily production. The former exploration chief for Saudi Aramco, Sadad al—Husseini, has recently stated, flatly, that the “supply rates were slowing, but now they are falling.”
What energy specialist William Herbert describes as “the era of low—hanging fruit … has really run its course.” Herbert is co—head of research at Simmons & Co. International, a Houston based energy investment bank. He said that anymore new field discoveries in the world as large as the two above are “slim to none.”
What many describe as “the long fall” downward in U. S. energy supplies will challenge every American man, woman and child now and for the next several generations to come.
A large and growing number of people are preparing and indeed looking forward to what some have called an “energy paradigm shift” and believe that one of the many consequences will be a vast reduction in the monstrous war budgets of what Eisenhower warned of in his 1961 presidential farewell speech about “the military industrial complex.”
THE NEW ISOLATIONISTS
Some are moving, they are the New Isolationists and their numbers are growing in reaction to the disastrous military adventures the nation funds in blood, treasure and bombs abroad and an ever more scarce energy supply.
Demanding immediate troop withdrawals, worldwide military base closures, the immediate securing by the military of the borders, the deportation or naturalization of illegal immigrants and drastic government war budget cuts; is only the beginning of what’s necessary to steer us toward true energy independence.
Nationwide reconstruction of the railroads making affordable mass transit systems and sizeable import tariffs on the flood of cheap goods into the country would lessen the pain of this national transition.
Raising the minimum wage to above the poverty level will be necessary, since only the most menial and manual jobs will be available to many in labor intensive agricultural food production. The 3000 mile head of lettuce or slab of reefer—trucked beef will be so unaffordable that only the rich will be able to eat it on a daily basis.
Locally produced; yard to yard, field to field, farm to market—food will be more about survival, not convenience.
These are the only immediate solutions to this fast growing cycle of never—ending war and energy shock. The Congressional Peak Oil Caucus which Rep. Dennis Moore (D—Ks.) is a member of weakly declared last March that it was going to take the same “nationwide determination of the Apollo Moon Mission” to prepare America for this radical energy change.
The New Isolationists’ demands, as more oil fields collapse and fewer new fields are found, offer the only credible alternative to endless oil wars, or worse, a nuclear WWIII.
It is going to take much more than a manned moon launch and every American must know and prepare now.

THE TROUBLE IS IN YOUR GAS TANK.
AND CIVILIZATION IS AT STAKE!
Incredible stuff watching this movement take hold and gain momentum and good to see it getting out so broadly across the country.
War figures in so many of these kind of important news reports that the daily condition could foster change in this country; it maybe radically faster than the elected leaders can keep up with, faster than the left can quantify or analyse about, traveling through the grapevines to the very core of the peoples' consciousness.
The conditions for something revolutionary among the people could be growing.
The Chicago Tribune news story covered below is one of the most clearly written and easy to understand examples of important journalism your friends and relatives can read, watch or listen to today.
It begins with a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter mopping floors and sweeping parking stalls as he dissects where the gas comes from at a local filling station outside of the Windy City.
The places, people and things get more and more alarming for the viewer as the story takes hold. Reading the original series of newspaper articles (also available on the same page) makes it clear that the collapse could possibly be very quick and catastrophic. The Hirsch Report that detailed the marginalized ability of government's response is cited.
Audio bites of Kunstler and Simmons "debating peak oil" is hilarious for the obstinate notions expressed by the unlimited growth crowd on the other side.
Reminds me of some of my Johnson county friends with their cars, kids and mortgages. Deep denial, Republican or Democrat "it" makes no difference energy scarcity is here.
Also interesting, a former Saudi Aramco official takes the "peakist" side. I don't know how much clearer Matthew Simmons can be for the dunderheads out there on the highways.
The twelve part segments load up while a counter clicks along with the number of barrels consumed in the U. S. while the video plays. A million and a half for my time watching the sections, reading while waiting for the screen to load up.
Even with a pretty fast connection the time waiting is a bit annoying. The "Read the story" section would be advisable if you have anything slower than DLS. The article alone is worth the stay.
Click below and take a trip to the convenience store down the street.
It will be fearful, because the horror pours forth from the petroleum energy base that our civilization has operated on for the last 150 years.
