As Chm. of the USAF Vietnam Veterans for Truth, and w/5 relatives attending K-State Univ.,
I am amazed at the unconditional support given this move of a WWII era Germ Warfare Research Lab from Plum Island, a relatively isolated location to the center of the nation's food supplies.
First of all, GERM WARFARE RESEARCH is OUTLAWED by TREATY !
This renamed lab is NOT SOME INNOCUOUS ANIMAL DISEASE RESEARCH
CENTER TO HELP ANYONE !
IF this were the case, WOULD the Dept. of Homeland Security be IN CHARGE of OPERATIONS THERE ? NO !
Plum Island was run by the USDA even though their activities were suspect due to a failed containment record with the GAO over decades.
There is a NEW GAO REPORT listed at NONBAF.COM which is AGAINST ANY RELOCATION of this lab as TOO DANGEROUS of a RISK !

Consider that to date, SEPT. 2013,
NO EPA ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY of the relocation of this lab to the KS area has been even STARTED at all.

Even 1 error or defect in the containment of DEADLY VIRUSES and BACTERIAL AGENTS present at this
research facility would be
CATASTROPHIC for ALL HUMAN RESIDENTS for 100's of miles from the epicenter of the release site.

U.S. Sen. Roberts has tried to ignor the facts, reports pointing to the extremely HIGH RISK of this
relocation and joined with Gov. Brownback supporting this insanity as a "jobs creator", BUT AT WHAT PRICE ?

I urge everyone to research the decades of GAO reports for Plum Island Lab's long history of failed containment and a dismal safety record.

Also, everyone can DEMAND AN EPA IMPACT STUDY IMMEDIATELY on this ill-advised relocation.

Write and call and email the Gov. of KS. Demand that your U.S. Reps.
truly REPRESENT YOUR SAFETY HERE !

We must take action now w/letters to newspaper editors to sound the alarm of this creeping danger coming our way !
