The story of Sullivan's commentary about Brownback sparked national debate after she went public with distress at being criticized by staff of a Kansas politician who served more than 15 years in elective office in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate before elected governor in 2010.
She decided to reject her principal's edict to send a written apology to the governor.
However, on Monday, it was Brownback issuing a statement attempting to put an end to the media circus.
