Hutchison News: "Democratic Secretary of State Endorsement: Sen. Chris Steineger"

Excerpt ... Biggs currently is serving as the secretary of state, after being appointed when Thornburgh left before the end of his term. That experience, combined with his work as the Kansas securities commissioner, as a prosecutor and public defender, leaves few questions about his ability to manage the job. He has spent years working as a public servant, and under Biggs the Secretary of State's Office would be in good hands.

Steineger, however, is the candidate who is most likely to bring innovative ideas to the office.

Steineger tends to operate outside the bounds of his party, during his 14 years as a legislator earning a reputation as something of an island and at times drawing criticism from both Republicans and Democrats.
