Too Much On-line, Too Much weekly

[Excerpt] China ... The latest flaunt: the Tibetan mastiff craze. China’s wealthy are going ga-ga over these slobbering big dogs that can weigh up to 180 pounds. One Chinese tycoon, Sui Huizheng, owns 20 Tibetan mastiffs and charges $40,000 for a breeding session with his top dog. Prices for prime adults can run $100,000 . . .

In the United States, interestingly, Tibetan mastiff pups regularly sell for only a few hundred dollars. Wealthy American dog-lovers seem to invest more of their canine dollars in accessories — like dog collars. Posh Puppy Boutique, based north of Sacramento, is currently promoting a line of diamond-studded dog neckware, with a choice of crocodile, snake, or ostrich leather. Posh Puppy’s small snakeskin collar comes in baby blue and lavender and runs $3,000 . . .
