Mexico's Long Emergency continues with oil production collapse ...

Another forward from a reader: [excerpt]  MEXICO CITY -- State-owned Petroleos Mexicanos said Wednesday that Mexico's oil production declined by 9.2 percent last year to just under 2.8 million barrels per day.  The fall was mainly due to the continuing gradual depletion of the nation's richest oilfield, Cantarell, and to Hurricane Ike, which disrupted production at offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, Pemex said in a statement.  Though output at Cantarell dropped by 461,000 bpd in 2008, the giant offshore deposit still accounted for 36 percent of Pemex's total production. ...
