Loosely connected, but relevant (based upon my direct and difficult experiences investigating "pro-life" Kansas Christian militias in the nineties) the recent revelations that the federal government police have failed at curtailing the infiltration of neo-fascists into the military services. It is a short step from worshipping Thor, or Hitler (who considered himself a good Christian) to being a "born again" Christian warrior for an American-style Armageddon. I have ran into, and researched many Kansas and Missouri militia members who became members of overtly U. S. "patriotic" assemblies, usually in the form of peaceable demonstrations outside abortion clinics. In fact, many were in their own words "doing recon" on their "targets."
I know that and a bit more because several were under my employ as agent-informers.
Now why the masochistic and idealistic "Left" hasn't learned to be more systematic about intelligence gathering is beyond me, but suffice it to say, the word "actionable" means more than throwing bottles and smashing windows in today's American police state.
Ironic, what McCain and Bush from their convention pulpits facetiously accusing the Democrat Party of being held hostage by the "angry Left" - the politically polar opposite has been happening at the Republican Party for decades. The Repugnuts have been held hostage to a fascist religious based crusade to make the country into a "Christian Nation" under "God's Law."

A western flatlander Kansan until the bitter end.
The apocalyptic fearful alternative, the Maverick team for the Neocon Predator State "wins" and replaces the faux cowboy Bush regime with a more dangerous sharky regime, launching yet more bankrupting wars for their over-stretched empire, and a domestic fascist corporate energy-centered dictatorship. One would think after the many armed standoffs, abortion clinic bombings, religious compound shootouts and outright mega-bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City we would learn of the fully armed and influential might of the spoiled right-wing in this country. If Clinton drove the racist and right-wing militia groups nuts, what do you think Obama's presidency will do?
I have a sinking feeling that in the largely Republican civil and police services from within the federal and state governments many just won't have the heart this time around to enforce the laws concerning the Bill of Rights.
There is no "angry Left" or "armed revolutionary leftists" in this country organized or large enough to hold even a soccer game at a local Unitarian-Universalist Church pot luck picnic.
McCain, Bush, Cheney, Rush "lard butt" Limbaugh, the pack of Wall Street Neocons, every tongue talking preacher pounding the pulpits, every red-baiting sociopath looking for a donation has been running the commie bogeyman for so long and to so many; that the phrase "socialism for the working classes" has been successfully washed from the brains of every Joe Six-Pack and Jill Carb-soaked Heifer in the "working class."
Mention the word "leftist" and the Fox News soaked, country music addled brain goes into televised static without the digital scrambler.
Of course, if McCain is elected "a heart beat away" will be Sarah "Barracuda" Palin, ambitious and ready for Christian "shock troop" deployment. Maybe, we should give away some movies?
That might eventually get those lard ass over weight couch potatoes off their butts and into the streets.
The question will be then, will there be enough of us still "left" to matter?
Either way, no matter which candidate wins, it bodes ill for the empire's confused and media dazzled citizenry of consumers.
