Federal Government Involved In Raids On Protesters

SHAME!

(Image tip: a neighbor outside a home being raided in the Twin Cities yesterday. Everybody detained, handcuffed, videotaped - then released. )
The text below reads like a cheap secret political kidnapping from a Third World dictatorship.
"This is Eileen Clancy . . . The house where I-Witness Video
is staying in St. Paul has been surrounded by police. We have locked all the
doors. We have been told that if we leave we will be detained. One of our people
who was caught outside is being detained in handcuffs in front of the house. The
police say that they are waiting to get a search warrant. More than a dozen
police are wielding firearms, including one St. Paul officer with a long gun,
which someone told me is an M-16.
We are suffering a preemptive video
arrest. For those that don't know, I-Witness Video was remarkably successful in
exposing police misconduct and outright perjury by police during the 2004 RNC.
Out of 1800 arrests, at least 400 were overturned based solely on video evidence
which contradicted sworn statements which were fabricated by police officers. It
seems that the house arrest we are now under and the possible threat of the
seizure of our computers and video cameras is a result of the 2004 success. ... "

The Feds aren't crying "our hands are tied" now, how convenient.

All those mandatory college classes cops have to take about the civil rights of citizens and community policing - imposed upon them after decades of abuses in the fifties, sixties and beyond - have vaporized in the forms of "non-lethal" dyed sprays of pepper gas, gas pellet balls, smoke bombs, tazers, database mining, electronic data vaccum sweeps of millions of citizens and then the overt use of blind force. How convenient?
It's time for sweeping up everybody that is even a little off center in their fraudulant "Global War on Terrorism" all for the grand and glorious cause of service to the bloated budgets of the Department of Homeland Security or name any of the generic corporate prison-industrial racketeers, part and parcel of the privatized corporate takeover of America. All done by those once called "peace officers" for the "civil authorities." How convenient?
Say "hello" to the new loyalist Tory robocop. Warrantless seizure of goods, raiding houses with no arrests, journalists roughed up arrested and bloodied ... this is not my 21st century America. It's the idiots' recipe for violent resistance and revolution when peaceful change becomes impossible - to paraphrase Kennedy paraphrasing Ghandi. It wasn't always like this ... just look at the "abortion wars" of the last few decades of the last century.
The religious anti-abortion protesters of the late 20th century in America, many who got away with everyday petty vandalism at abortion clinics, trespassing, stalking nurses and doctors to their homes; and even the few who became arsonists and murderers-at-large (some aided and abetted by a "pro-life" underground as fugitives for years), never had to put up with this blatant daylight fascism as seen in Minneapolis - St. Paul in the last few days. How convenient!
When Clinton was president the secret police were worried about respecting the rights of conservative (many times who were registered God-fearing Republican) anti-women protesters; many times claiming their "hands were tied" against the "domestic terrorists." Many times by cops who were themselves God-fearing Republicans ... How convenient!
Now that Bush has been president (the Great God fearing Decider) the secret police become like the Gestapo, the KGB, just name your totalitarian enforcer, and all for the military industrial racketeers - using such iron fisted tactics on pot-luck vegetarians, non-violent communitarians and anti-war journalists and dissidents. How convenient!
May they break their backs carrying our bodies away.
Hey you cops out there reading this ... shame, shame on your brothers and sisters in this work.
Read Glenn Greenwald's Federal Government Involved In Raids On Protesters and join the Resistance, become a whistle blower - today. Now that's not convenient - but an honorable end to your career.
