The "crazy people" say there are dangerous criminal elites among us.

Is it so unreasonable to ponder the likelihood that a group of well financed and self-described, but thoroughly dishonest “liberty” lovers would conspire to take over the government?

Historical evidence abounds that conspiracies existed and were attempted, even during the dark days of the Great Depression. Why would it be so out of bounds to consider that even in present day the cliques of Big Energy would conspire, even before 9/11 and the Occupation of Iraq to postpone a calamity that would threaten their control of energy reserves and continued profits, even for only a few short years? You don't need a tin foil hat to be labeled crazy about this subject of conspiracy, but dangerous criminal elites have existed and do so today. Who is crazy? The much smeared "isolationists" or those plotting global domination in high places? Is it so out of bounds to consider that absolute non-interventionism existed for decades before WWII and crossed political parties and ideologies?
