What are the military recruiters doing in your local high schools?

Co - editor to the outstanding Project for an Old American Century, Jack Dalton, a Vietnam Veteran has written a very interesting essay encouraging adult people to protect High School age children from recruiters and some interesting ideas on how to do it at: dalt_1058 .

I know that the militarization of even my son's elementary school seems to be in full swing when he came home one day this year with some clothing paraphenalia linking the anti-drug D.A.R.E. group with the Kanas National Guard. Dalton, a writer I pay special attention to posits the philosophical about recruiters allowed free reign at the high schools, even as national educational funding is being slashed; where even in Kansas the funding controversy is heated without adequate opposition to the Iraq War.

Do minors have First Amendment "free speech" rights to oppose militry recruiters on their campus? What are school administrators and local school boards responsibilities to the students? Check out Jack's essay at the hyperlink above.
